M&S Food hall
For me M&S has got to be the very best food retailer around. I find their products to be such high quality and always so tasty, certainly it has a price tag to match but for me you get what you pay for.
For anyone who does not know about M&S it is a high street retailer that sells women's, men's and children clothing and footwear, cosmetics, gifts, household items, furniture etc. and almost all stores have a food hall. There are also M&S simply food stores that you will find in city centre and train stations etc. that sell just food.
My experience of M&S food hall has always been great. It is a name that I trust and can always be sure that the products will be a high standard.
When I watch the M&S food adverts on the t.v my mouth water. "This is not just food this is M&S food".
Price wise there is no way I could afford to do a full weekly shop in M&S. As I said before the price tag matches the taste. You can pay around £8 for 6 breaded chicken breasts and £2 for a bag of ready prepared veg.
A lot of M&S food is aimed at convenience. You can buy a meat joint ready to go straight in the oven, veg ready for the pot, packets of ready made gravy etc. there is also an extensive ready meal range suitable for microwave cooking
M&S do a food ordering service that is very useful. I use this at Christmas so that I can go and pick up my fresh turkey etc. on Christmas Eve and know I am getting exactly what I want, no problems with empty shelves. It is also useful if you are catering for a large amount. again no concerns about missing ingredients.
On a normal weekday/weekend M&S is quite busy but nothing too bad but come Christmas or Easter etc. the store is so buy that you can find people arguing over a pack of dips. This is a big drawback as it can make it quite a stressful experience. The food ordering service has to a certain extent eliminated the problem
In addition to their standard range M&S have a healthy eating range that has reduced calorie, fat and salt content. I have tasted many of these items and find them to be really tasty. They also have a kid's range of ready meals suitable for microwave and oven cooking. The meals are very well balanced nutitionally and still taste great. I sometimes buy the kids chicken curry for my daughter if I am in a rush.
My last experience of M&S food was last week. I purchased a ham and asparagus quiche. It cost £2.99 and serves four. It was delicious. The pastry tastes rich an buttery, very moist (unlike a lot of short crust pastry), the ham was really soft and the asparagus tastes perfect. A really nice food. Highly recommended.
This is a great place to shop for food if you have the money. If not it is great for an occasional treat.
Summary: Its not just food, its M&S food
