Advantages: Tastes as good as an M & S sandwich made with the same filler but you get to make your own at home
Disadvantages: The product may contain a few bones
This review is about a Marks & Spencer product, known as, Marks and Spencer Deli Filler Smoked Salmon and Soft Cheese, however, I have had to place the review under Marks & Spencer in General as I am unable to get a new category added at the moment. I have always been a big fan of the Marks & Spencer take away sandwiches and rolls etc and in particular the smoked salmon and soft cheese bagel. In fact I love it so much that I bought a packed of smoked salmon and a tub of soft cheese in an attempted to save money and make my own version. Unfortunately my home made version wasn't bad but still had a long way to go before it could be considered anywhere near as good as the M&S version. Anyway, I recently visited my local M&S to look at the birthday cakes and whilst I was here I decided to make the most of the situation and buy a couple of bits and pieces I needed. It was then that I discovered that M&S sell a range of Deli Fillers including Egg and Bacon and Smoked Salmon and Soft Cheese. Because of my love of smoked salmon I grabbed the Smoked Salmon and Soft Cheese flavour and it is this product that I have decided to base my opinion on. **THE PRODUCT** The Smoked Salmon and Soft Cheese deli filler is sold in a 170g transparent plastic tub, and retails for £1.99. The packaging is quite classy and there is a picture of smoked salmon on the label. The label offers serving suggestions and advises that the deli filler is ideal for filling sandwiches or as a topping on toasted bagels, I think it would be equally as enjoyable as a topping for a jacket potato or on its' own served with a salad. **THE TASTE** I did not have any bagels so I spread the deli filler thickly on a finger roll. The taste can only be described as heavenly. The cheese is very rich and creamy and I was pleased to note that there was a vast amount of salmon strips mixed in with the soft cheese. The deli filler tastes just like the filling i
n the bagels that are sold in the take away section and I imagine that M&S use this deli filler for the bagels. **VALUE FOR MONEY** Whilst it may seem quite expensive I believe that the product does represent value for money as at £1.99 per 170g I found that it went a long way and saved me a considerable amount of money as I was able to enjoy four servings from this tub rather than only the 1 serving I would get if I had purchased the bagel. **THE INGREDIENTS** For those of you who are interested I have listed the ingredients below. Full Fat Soft Cheese (37%), Oak Smoked Salmon (35%), (contains salmon salt), Cream, Sunflower Oil, Concentrated Lemon Juice and Pepper. Unfortunately I can't list the nutrition values as I ripped the label off and threw it away without realizing, sorry :o( **WARNING TO ALLERGY SUFFERERS** This product contains cows milk and fish, (no you don't say!) **OTHER INFORMATION** Keep refrigerated 0ºC to +5ºC and once opened the product needs to be eaten within 2 days. The product is not suitable for freezing. Some small bones may remain - thankfully I didn't find any. I can highly recommend this deli filler and if you enjoy smoked salmon then I'm sure you will love this. Thanks for reading. Julie
