Advantages: Cheap clothes

Disadvantages: poor quality

I've shopped at Matalan on and off for myself for the past five or so years. In summary, it is a massive retail shop selling childrens, mens and womens clothes and shoes, plus homewear, party stuff and a few toys usually situated on an out of town retail park. You need to have a membership card but I think mine was only about £1.

What do I like about it?
It's cheap clothes mean you can pick up quite a few things and not break the bank. They seem to have got a lot more fashionable in recent years and you are not ashamed to wear them as they can look good. The children's are really good value as well. I don't like the mens stuff as much as my man only buys clothes on occasions so it's nice to have better quality clothes. You can pick up cheap christmas cards as well there. I like the range of party stuff they sell there as well.

What don't I like?
The quality of womens clothes is a bit lacking. The material is a bit thinner and you have to try thngs on as they don't always fit well. Not so bad for kiddies but for us more so. It's also the embarrassment of telling people where you got your top. My friend calls it the designer Mat Alan. We bought some mens socks there and they were rubbish as they got holes in no time. Can be big queues at the tills.

Summary: Good for fashion items and kids clothes

So when you buy this membership card, what do you get for it? Discounts? When you say cheap clothes, how does it compare to other cheap places like say Primark? Maybe you can quote some sample prices...

You don't have to have a membership card, although you will be bothered at the till everytime you shop there until you do sign up for one!
