Advantages: Cheap prices

Disadvantages: That damn card

Matalan is one of those shops that I hardly ever bother with, one of the main reasons is that you have to have a Matalan card to shop there, originally you had to pay a £1 for one however these days it is free but you do have to have one to present at the till with your purchases, it is a weird thing because it is not like a Tesco loyalty card where you earn points as with this card you get nothing in return and I have never received anything in the mail from Matalan either so I do not see what the point of it is other than giving the company your shopping info which from what I can see they do not really use.

The stores are usually on out of town centres and are large department stores that specialise in cheap clothing, they have ranges for male, females and children and I have bought the odd thing for my niece as with growth spurts and the rough and tumble of childhood she goes through clothes really quickly and generally the clothes are pretty reasonable on price and the quality is ok. I have been less impressed with the clothes for adults as these seem quite cheap looking and not that impressive.

They also have a home furnishing section which again is quite good on price but little of what they stock interests me.

Overall it is the pain of having to carry another card that deters me from using the store irrespective of the cheap prices.
