Good value and wide choice (Matalan)

Advantages: cheap, varied, moves with the fashions

Disadvantages: some stores can be messy but the two I use have cleaned up considerably lately

I love Matalan and buy a lot of my work clothes here. I tend to go for a lot of their basic t shirts and shirts. I am a size 10/12 and find that the tops are pretty much fine in a 10 for fitted tops and a 12 for shirts. Trousers are a little more difficult. I carry weight on my legs and arms and have a flat stomach and small waist (hourglass shape) and find that there is often not enough material in the shirts and trousers for my arms and legs to be comfortable. If I buy the next size up then the waist is far too big. I have trouble also with their jeans - they are without exception too tight in the leg and far too long (I have a 28" inside leg or 30" with heels). Their skirts are usually great and I normally fit comfortably into a 10.

There is a good range of shoes and jewellery that I look at regularly and it is always my first stop for clothing to give to parents as presents for their children. There is a wide range, and I especially like their newborn clothing and baby and toddler dresses which often look more expensive than they are.

I don't tend to look at the homeware much as we have an Ikea up the road, but their bedlinen is often nice and a good price. I have often seen a good variety of dvds (mainly older films) at around £4 each and sometimes containing three films per disc, which is a bargain if you are filling up holes in your collection.

Summary: Great value and the clothes look fresh for a least a year with careful washing and ironing
