Matalan: The biggest bargain basement around, but avoid the Sword Canes

For those of you new to the concept of Matalan, the approach is quite simple. They buy last seasons stock, and sell it on at bargain basement prices. Their range includes clothing: Formal, casual, adults, kids, holiday, shoes to name but a few. They also have other sections, including bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms (bed linen) and some very limited amounts of furniture. In fact they even accidentally sold canes, which had a built in sword - tut tut.

Their stores are fairly well laid out, not the typical pile it high sell it cheap approach you find in some of their competitors stores. The sections are nicely divided up meaning the adults don't get bombarded with kids running about. Particularly great, for those looking to do some suite and shoes shopping.

The quality is fairly good, and they often get some well known brands, such as Nike, Adidas and rebook in the sports where section. The other sections have the odd branded item, but more often than not, they are lesser known labels. However if you choose to purchase a pair of suit trowsers for £12 you can hardly complain if they only last a year or so.

For those on a budget, a diet, or wanting a bargain, then this is the place to be!
