Final Score Meadowhall 1 : 3 Trafford Centre

I visited Trafford Centre when I lived in Lancashire and I really loved the place(see other op) so now I have moved to Lincolnshire I decided to visit Meadowhall which is supposed to be the equivalent in this area.
Situated near Sheffield just off the M1 Meadowhall is pretty easy to get to by road. From where I live it took us just over forty minutes to get to by car. The rail link from where I live is one train straight there and takes 1 hr 40 minutes from A to B.
On this score Meadowhall is far more accessible by public transport than the Trafford centre which although being around the same length of a car journey from where we lived in Lancashire was over a three hour journey by public transport with 3 trains 1 tram and a bus.

Meadowhall 1 : 0 Trafford Centre

The Meadowhall opening times aren’t as good as the times at Trafford Centre as far as I am concerned, but then I’m not very good at getting up in a morning. I suppose if you are an early riser then the meadowhall times would probably suit you. The earlier closing times at Meadowhall makes it less appealing to have a night out there.

Meadowhall 0 : 1 Trafford Centre.

Once inside the range of shops in both complexes are pretty much the same. The usual High St stores that can be found in any town centre such as Bhs, Marks and Spencers, Boots, HMV etc.
Meadowhall however feels smaller than the Trafford Centre. The aisles are not as wide and it is no where near as clean. The surroundings are no wher
e near as interesting as Trafford Centre with no artistically painted walls or themed areas. The restaurants are all lumped together at Meadowhall where as at the Trafford Centre they are in the themed areas such as Chinatown and New Orleans.

Meadowhall 0 : 1 Trafford Centre

On the whole Trafford Centre is a far more pleasant experience than Meadowhall.
Meadowhall is really just a shopping centre the same as any other, Trafford Centre has more entertainment around and about and is more user friendly.

More in depth details about the shopping centres can be found at
www.traffordcentre.co.uk
www.meadowhall.co.uk
and on the point of the websites I like the Trafford Centre Website better than the Meadowhall one. Once again it is more entertaining.

Meadowhall 0: 1 Trafford Centre

I guess the designers of Trafford Centre had chance to learn from what had been done at Meadowhall, and improve on it.
