Advantages: choices Disadvantages: they don't deliver as promised
We ordered and paid for a MFI bedroom and matching bed on 31 Dec 2005.Busy decorating, the delivery date of early Feb was fine. On the date everything was delivered apart from the bed, the mattress arrived ok.The bedroom was fully fitted, finished and carpeted and still no sign of the bed. This was after several dates had been given and nothing arrived.On phoning customer services we were told that due to quality of service problems they were no longer able to supply the bed and the best they could offer was an ex-display model from a store.As our local store didn't have one on show, I told them the nearest branch where we had viewed it.We now worried about how many other people were in the queue for this bed! As the bedroom was fully finished, ripping it out and returning it for a refund wasn't exactly an option so they had us over a barrel, so to speak. When the phone call informing us of availability of the ex-display bed never came - no surprise there, I phone customer services to be told by a young man there that what I had been told was a complete load of rubbish, the bed was available and would be coming soon, well another 6weeks anyway.It finally arrived on July13th, almost six and a half months after we ordered it. Having relatives from New Zealand stay with us during this time we had to give our old bed up to them (we'd been using it still with the new furniture) and we slept on the new mattress on the floor.I wrote a very strongly worded letter of complaint, citing the many phone calls and mess we had put up with and was offered the measly sum of £70 compensation. Still unhappy we cashed the cheque. Summary: beware |
