After deciding to have a new kitchen fitted, we visited the MFI store in Llandudno. There, we expressed our interest in one of the kitchens to the sales staff. We filled in a form, and were told that they would get back to us to arrange a site visit. A week later, there had been no contact from MFI whatsoever, so we called them up, to find that they had not made any arrangements for a site visit. Hurriedly, the store manager and one of his sales staff managed to arrange a visit on that same day.

A week later, we went to the store to view the design that the designers had come up with. Happy with the design, we paid the deposit.

When it came to the pre-fitting, we were shocked to find that there was a 3-foot discrepancy in the measurements taken by the store manager, so we would not after all be able to have the kitchen as per the design. The fitter gave the correct measurements to the store designers so that they could redesign the kitchen.

Another 2 weeks passed, during which we were constantly being sent text reminders and voice messages that we had to pay the balance by 6thOctober 2007, and they were yet to even come up with a feasible design for the kitchen.

We went back to the store to look at their second attempt at designing the kitchen, this time with the correct measurements. A few amendments were made but we were content with the end result. Now it was a matter of adjusting the price to take into account the fact that we were now going to be getting less units than previously quoted for. However, there was nobody in store that could give us the new balance, and they would call us back.

When the store did manage to call us back a few days later, we agreed on a price. Therefore we went to the store on Saturday 6th October to pay the outstanding balance. We were assured at that point that our delivery date was to be 27th October, and the fitting was to begin on the 29th October.

On the 27th October, having had no delivery, we called the store, who told us that the delivery date was now November 17th with fitting due to start on 3rd December. Nobody from MFI had even bothered to inform us of the change in dates, and we had not questioned the delivery date after it was assured to us in store that the delivery would be on 27th October. All this meant that I had stayed in all day waiting for a delivery that was never going to be delivered on that day, as well as having booked a week off work to be at home during the fitting of our new kitchen.

Put quite simply, I am appalled by the service I have received from MFI Llandudno, and will be going in store to demand a refund.

Summary: MFI - Absolutely useless
