Advantages: They will do all the mediation for you.
Disadvantages: May take several months
My advice to all is go to the Furniture Ombudsman. They will mediate on your behalf.
I have had the same experience as almost everyone else. Bought an MFI kitchen. Wrong cupboard fittings, faulty unit etc etc. there are so many things wrong that I can't possibly list them all here. The worst was that the fitters installed a 70mm Upstand, even though I had told him that I thought I was getting full Splashbacks, including over a window sill. When I asked why he had fitted it when he knew it wasn't what I wanted, he said that it was what had been sent, so that's why he fitted it.
They also advised me to use baby oil on my Maia worktops, which I thought was odd, so I contacted the makers and they were horrified, and have taken the issue to their Directors
Customer services are all but useless. I have been speaking to the Loughborough store Manager about refunds totalling over £700 for three weeks now.
I have now made a formal complaint via the Furniture Ombudsman's conciliation service, so they do the mediating and try to resolve the issues, and this is a great help, as I don't think I would be able to talk to the Manager again without losing my temper, and I don't want to do this.
I would certainly never buy from them again. Unless all dissatisfied customers register complaints with official bodies, we will not get MFI to change. No stars at all for MFI
Summary: Takes the heat out of compensation issues
