We have recently moved into our new home and after having the luxury of fitted wardrobes at our old place, went out shopping for new wardrobes. We decided on the Paxos range from MFI and purchased 2 wardrobes along with a chest of drawers and bedside tables on 5th August 2003.

After paying in full on the day, we were told that all the items would be delivered on 21st August. A two week wait, but we had no real issue with that. We moved into our house on 12th August and managed to borrow some temporary rails to see us through.

On our expected delivery date, I called the automated line to see if the delivery would be a.m. or p.m. and was told that our order would be delivered on 2nd September 2003! I then called my local Reading store who informed me that most of my furniture would be delivered today except one of the wardrobes which is out of stock and would be delivered at the later date. They hadn't bothered to try and contact me about this and were sorry!

So here I am, duly awaiting the second wardrobe, and still living off the temporary rails which are cluttering up the bedroom. I have just called the automated line to find out if the item will be delivered this morning or this afternoon, only to be met with, "Your delivery is scheduled for 17th September 2003"!!!! I have also been back on the phone to the store and have been told that they did not order enough stock to the local warehouse and the earliest date it can now be delivered is 17th - a full 6 weeks after paying for the item. They did try and contact us about this delay on 30th August, but there was no reply (This was said as if it was our fault!) - and they didn't bother trying again.

In terms of compensation, we are to call the store once the item has been delivered and they are sure they can arrange a good will gesture for us.

We haven't attempted to put the other items together yet, and judging by other comments on this
site about bits missing from the pack, it sounds like that will be fun and games too!
