Advantages: friendly,
Disadvantages: a little expensive
I admit it. I only had my first trip in there yesterday....
Monsoon i know very little about. On the monsoon site it says
"Monsoon was founded in 1973 by Peter Simon following a period of selling shaggy woollen coats on the Portobello Road and hand block printed clothes from Rajasthan to anyone who would buy them. The original focus was always clothes with an ethnic origin from faraway places, including unusual dresses from Afghanistan and countries en route"
My first trip was into a small shop in my town centre. On the counter was just one woman. What caught my eye first was all the very brightly coloured clothes. Ruby red, greens...
One side of the shop had mirrors on the wall. Ok for people who like to see themselves, but it's not for me :-D
All i went for really was a coat. They had coats in the sale, about £40 but i didnt like any.
I think this shop is for the more classy lady in her 30's. Not me for sure, hehehe. I saw they had little trinkets. Little jewellery trinkets. Very sparkley but very expensive and made not of silver just silver coloured.
They also had a few accessories like gloves. Which where £8 a pair ( i later went into tjhughes and they had gloves at £1 a pair...) stripey scarves like Doctor who, i think these are in fashion now. A few rails of costume jewellery, bangles, ear rings. All at prices i'd expect to get real silver from not just tat metal.
They had purses too, leather purses. These where nice. One was £12 though and again tjhughes sells them for £3-£4....
They had fabric purses, ones with sequins.
I didn't really look at the other clothes, just coats and the accessories.
Over all it seems like a well meaning shop, not at all crowded and seemed very welcoming, but i'd not go in there again. To me it's expensive, and not for me. As i say for the classy lady who likes to buy £8 gloves and lots of colourful clothes. But not for me.
I give this a 4 for been friendly and well meaning :-D
Summary: nice if you like that kinda of thing
