Advantages: Cheap sometimes with good special offers

Disadvantages: Poor own brand food

We've got a Morrisons about 10 mins away but we hardly ever go there and prefer to shop in Sainsburys or Tesco because the quality of the own brand food is a lot better.

Morrisons are more of a traditional supermarket than the others and sell mainly food, my local one has got a couple of aisles for gardening, bakeware and household stuff but all of that is overpriced I think and you can get cheaper in other shops.

They have got quite a wide range of food, the fruit and vegetable section takes up a large part of the supermarket and they sell loads of salad stuff, different types of potato, all the fruit and veg you can imagine plus more exotic items like coconuts and star fruit. It's always fresh and quite a bit cheaper than the fruit and vegetables in Tesco.

I love the fish counter in Morrisons and the odd times I go in there on my own it's usually just to stock up on fish. They close at about 8pm so it's worth going in just before that when they have reduced all the fish, I got some bargains yesterday and my shelf in the freezer has got a load of fish in it now including salmon, smoked cod and haddock and they were all half their usual price. You can either buy your fish in the trays for a set price or go to the fish counter itself and ask them to weigh the fish out that you want, it can work out a bit expensive like that though so make sure you've got a budget to stick to.

The butcher isn't that good in our local Morrisons and he's sort of shoved at the back of the shop and the meat counter doesn't stand out at all, I actually didn't even know the counter was there and thought it was where all the prepacked meat was prepared!

They sell all the branded products and your better to stick with them in Morrisons because their own brand food is usually very disappointing and it's not even that cheap compared to Tesco Value or the Sainsburys own brand. We've tried a few of their tins and none of them have been very good so we don't bother anymore.

They've got an aisle for baby products but the problem is they quite often have Pampers and Huggies nappies on special offer and when they've all gone they don't stock the shelves back up again. The Morrisons brand nappies are rubbish so don't even bother with them even though they're dirt cheap.

The choice of alcohol is good in Morrisons and they are quite cheap with their prices, apart from cans of lager and for some reason they price them madly high and always have. They don't very often have the 2 boxes of beer for £x.xx like the other supermarkets and if they do you have to be quick because again they don't restock the boxes once they've all gone.

Summary: Not A Supermarket I'd Choose To Shop In Too Often

Totally agree about own 'Value range'. Sainsbury's are by far the best for value ranges - can't tell their stuff from branded! Morrisons is ok, but not amazing. I only go because it is the local one.

Fraid I agree with you about it not being so good. I also avoid it coz it's the only large supermarket which doesn't have a single mobility scooter, and which clogs its isles up with so much stuff you'd struggle to get one through if they did have one I reckon.
