Advantages: Have good sales and easy accesible to their stores.
Disadvantages: Should review customer rights and make it clear in staff training.
I must admit I like the clothes and own products, such as nappies and other small things like that in Mothercare, but that's it everything else is such a rip-off. I'm so annoyed after my recent encounter with them. I bought a parasol to go on my babies pushchair, nothing posh just your basic everyday umbrella type one, at the cost of £12.99 it was a pretty brodaie anglais one, white ( silly colour to buy!!!) with a lovely girly trim on it. However after useing it twice the material came away from the frame. So off I went to my nearest Mothercare which is 15 miles away, hubby had to reluctantly be dragged away from the footie as I don't drive, which is no easy feat as any woman will know. We get there half an hour later only to be told we couldn't exchange or refund it,even though i had my receipt. They tried to palm it off on me saying my baby had obviousley dragged it on the ground or suchlike, bearing in mind that my baby is only 8 months old and not that great at acrobatics yet, I said they were having a laugh and demanded an exchange. Anyway to cut a long story short I eventually see the manager and after sitting on the floor in protest for 10 minutes eventually got it exchanged for another as I didn't want my money back, although probably should have. This whole experience has put me off Mothercare as before i always thought they were good for customer care etc, obviousley not. I still get my baby clothes from there as I do like them but it's via Mothercare-direct.

- 23/09/00 Hi Bexxie - It's worth knowing your statutory rights - legally any goods you buy must be of stisfactory quality - if something is faulty you are entitled to your money back, you have these rights even if you do not have the receipt, though you have to act quickly for a refund. Sounds like mothercare were trying to escape responsibility. Next time threaten them with Trading Standards (usually works!) Magsx |
