Advantages: Efficient and friendly staff

Disadvantages: Some items slightly more expensive than elsewhere

Mothercare is basically a superstore that stocks absolutely everything you would ever need for your pregnancy, baby and child. The have large stores nationwide but they also have an on-line store - www.mothercare.com, where you can shop online and have the items delivered directly to your home, if this is more convenient for you.

My first visit to Mothercare was when I was 20 weeks pregnant, as I require some larger maternity bras. As it was my first baby I wasn't sure what to expect or what to ask for so I found a member of staff in the maternity clothes section. She was very friendly and explained everything to me, advised me what I would need to purchase and also offered to measure me so that I could buy the correct size.

They measure you professionally and discreetly and will then go and get a selection of bras for you to try on before you buy. They do a wide selection of maternity and nursing bra's, varying in price from £12 for a pack of 2 Mothercare bra's upto £40 for a designer bra. Needless to say I went for the cheaper versions and was very happy with them, they were comfortable and lasted the whole of my pregnancy. I went back at 38 weeks to be fitted for my nursing bras also, and received the same, great service as before.

I also went to Mothercare to look for a travel system, again the staff are very efficient and explain, in details the full travel system, show you how it works and even take the car seat to your car to check that it fits correctly and give you a demonstration of how to fit it. Whilst I didn't purchase my travel system from them as I found it cheaper elsewhere I still found the service very efficient.

In summary, Mothercare is a great store for advice and you are always guaranteed to find whatever you are looking for with regards to pregnancy, baby or child here. Some of the items they sell can be found cheaper elsewhere so I would shop around before buying.
