Advantages: huge range

Disadvantages: can be expensive

Mothercare is a high street store that catered for pregnant women, babies and young children. They have both online and high street stores
My experience of Mothercare really began when I was pregnant. I bought the odd bit of clothing not realising that they are so expensive in comparison to many stores.
Some of my shopping experiences have been both positive and negative.
When I was 39 weeks pregnant I went to see my consultant who decided I would be induced the next day due to a blood condition I have. I had been in denial I was going into Labour so hadn't even packed my hospital bag. That day I whizzed down to Mothercare to purchase a nursing bra. I asked to be measured and explained about my induction but was advised to get a bra the size I was currently measuring. When I queried this she suggested I go up a cup size. So I purchased a 40DD double pack.
My son was born on the Wednesday and my milk came in on the Friday and by this time I wasn't fitting into my bra but was in hospital due to my son's jaundice. I was measured by the hospital breast feeding support worker on the Monday and I measured 36J. The relief of having a comfortable fitting bra was amazing.
The store sells everything you need for a baby for bathing, nappies, dressing, sleeping and transporting your little one around .Our Local store has a Carks children's shoes and ELC section within it.
I have had a much more positive experience since shopping for my baby.

Bathing

They sell a range of baths, hooded towels and toiletries. These are usually cheaper in the supermarket especially if you get them on offer.

Nappies

They sell both boxes and smaller packs of the top brand nappies. They have a range of cloth nappies and all the accessories that are needed.

Travel

They have a complete range of prams, and car seats. They are on show so you get opportunity to try then out. When I spoke to the assistant about putting my eight month old son in front facing as he was so long I was given information about how you can tell when a seat is too small and the risks of putting a baby in a front facing seat too young. The assistant certainly seemed knowledgeable

Nursery

The nursery range includes cots, cot beds junior beds and junior beds with full size single mattresses. There is a range of furniture and bedding and curtain ranges. The only item I have purchased from this range is mosses basket sheets and they didn't get over washed as my son wasn't a sickly baby but they did wash well.

Safety
They have one of the largest ranges of safety equipment I have seen although not cheap it is an extensive range.

Feeding

The sell everything from you need from bottles and cups to plates and knives and forks they also have some weaning books. They sell bigger equipment you need like sterilizers down to breast pads for when breast feeding.

Clothing.

One of the positive aspects of the clothing at Mothercare is they do have a large range of character clothing. This is one of the only places I have been able to get Noddy clothes from. The clothes are good quality and do wash well but as very expensive in comparison to supermarket clothing. They do have a range of premature clothing.
They also have there own foot wear which is cheaper than the in store Clarks.

Toys

They now have a selection of ELC toys in store along with the usual range of toys and books.

They also have a range of gifts for the newborn.

There is a free catalogue that you can request online or collect in store.

You can purchase in store or order online. If you are in the shop and they don't have something in stock they can order it and get it send direct to your home free of charge where if you order online there is a delivery charge.

I find that Mothercare is a very useful store for some of the more unusual items and to try out products but I can often that standard items are often cheaper elsewhere. I have had a few bargains in the sales particularly in the toys dept.

Well worth a look but check out the prices.

Summary: great store but watch the prices
