Musical Instruments Retailers in generalNewest Review: ... as you need to try it out to its loudest and quietest! They have cabinets full of different flutes, headjoints and piccolos. You can try out any that you want, but the staff are good at recomending a selection of instruments for your standard. I have bought 2 flutes from this shop. I have also bought a lot of sheet music over the years on the phone and it gets set that same day. They also do student discount on cds and sheet music which is brilliant as I need a lot of it. I also got 5% off my flute for being on the teachers register. The staff here are amazing and are all flautists. They also do repairs downstairs and a trade in sche... more |

I have a love for music shops that are friendly. My favourite is All Flutes Plus in London. Its on Warren Street which is a tube stop so its handy if your not from London and are wanting to find a shop easily. From the moment you walk in, its like another world. You have to ring the doorbell to get in, as there are a lot of expensive flutes and scores in here. The main salesman is Irish, and very personable. I would recommend phoning in advance if you want to look at flutes above £1000 as they dont always have them in stock, and they also like to get flutes out and ready so you dont have to hang around too long when your there. They have ... Read the complete review

As an avid musician, I must have been in hundreds of music shops now and I have always thoguht how fun it was to walk into a music shop that was cluttered full of instruments up until recently when I visited a rather different shop Make Music in a small town in Hetfordshire, this company are obviously motivated in a different way to your bog standard music shop, it is beautifully presented and very spacious. As soon as you walk in your given a friendly greeting from one of the staff who are extremely well groomed, and looking around there are little clues to what this shop has to offer. The front showroom is stocked with digital pianos, keyboards, acoustic guitars and ... Read the complete review

When in need of any specialist piece of equipment for my clarinets I need not think twice as to where I will go. My local music shop stocks the cheapest bits of crap and has the meanest range I've ever seen, and is overpriced too. A local specialist shop, although having everything in stock, needs to sell a certain amount to keep above the red and therefore can sell at a higher than normal price. John Myatts (based just out of London) stock everything any wind or brass player could possibly need. They have everything (yes, everything) . . . the specialist reeds, the mouthpiece to fit your bore, the gold plated key instruments, and everything in between. ... Read the complete review

The first time I used this store was back in the dark ages when I was 6 years old. At the time, I was looking for a treble recorder, as I was 'moving up' from the descant. Rushworths was recommended to my Dad by my music teacher, so we all got in the car and set off for Chester. Rushworths in Chester can be quite hard to find if you're not really sure where it is, as its on the lower level of the famous (?) two tier shops, and quite tucked away; the sign isn't that big either, but once you find it, its well worth it. You go down a ramp into the shop, and there are racks of sheet music and scores as well as loads of instruments, from ... Read the complete review

Thanks to the Guitar, Amp & Keyboard Centre buying a guitar was a beautifuly painless experience for me. I wanted to buy an American Series Fender Stratocaster to get me started in the world of guitar playing, along with a Marshall amp. I was going to go to a local shop, but to be honest after ringing up and finding out how limited their stock was I decided that mail order was the only way to go. First of all I wanted to ring up and see how their prices compared to local prices. The sales assistant was very friendly and helpful and told me everything I wanted to know. Not only did they have the amp, but they had the guitar as well. The ... Read the complete review
