Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Lack of choice

I just love Netto. In Liverpool were I live they are often situated in close proximity of a Home and Baragin store. Therefore it is likely they are looking for people who are shopping on a budget - and I think if you were to ask them they would agree. They are often distinguished by their large NETTO sign in Gold and Black. So what can you expect when you visit these stores.

Well Netto pride themselves on price. You can often get your items here a fraction of what you would pay at a high brand Supermarket. However you will also get No Frills. Don't expect all the floors to be fancy. Don't expect to have a Customer Service Desk. Don't expect to have all items displayed all fancy. Don't expect it to be nice and warm inside. This is a pile 'em high - get out quick kind of store. You even pay for your own bags here to keep down the cost. No credit cards either because this would add costs too. Everything is done to keep costs low. But customers are made aware of this. Netto are upfront and open about how their business model is.

Another good thing to keep an eye on is the weekly bargains. Each week Netto have a small number of items at particularly low prices. Once they are gone. They are gone. You often needy to be very early in order to grab one of these bargains.

A downside to Netto is that their shops (in comparrison to major Supermarkets) are small. You can't just go in there with a shopping list and buy everything you need. Usually I go there first and buy what they have available then to Home and Bargain, then Iceland and anything left over I get from Tesco. It is also important to note that not all items in Netto are recognisable brands.

That is how I find I can spread my money the most. This way I can spread £100 that I would spend in Tesco and get one trolley to getting 2 trolleys worth. It really does pay to shop like this. And with three young children who are always looking out for things to eat it my wallet dictates it.

Summary: A good value budget shop!

Good review - I have never been to a Netto (there aren't any stores in Scotland) so this gives me a good insight thanks.
