Advantages: Budget supermarket, pretty decent
Disadvantages: Small range of products, can be messy
I first visited Netto upon moving to the other side of the city (Stoke on Trent) this year, never had one locally really before. I don't know why but I just sort of drove into the car park and went in one day after work.
Stores=
Aisle size good so plenty of room for getting around for everyone, clean stores, also light and bright. No music as per in these cheaper supermarkets. If it means me baked beans are cheaper then great!
Sometimes can be a little messy especially on the offer tables and baskets and hard to find the prices, shelf ends can also be a bit messy but overall well stocked.
Staff=
Always been good in here. Cannot fault!
Products=
Soft drinks= good selection of unheard of brands and brands you are familiar with. Nice range of cartoned juices and pop. No worries here.
Alcohol :) =
Nota bad range, you will recognise most of the stuff here, I'm not a huge drinker though so don't know too much about it.
Kitchen cupboard stuff ie tins, packets and jars=
Again, not bad range but you will not find everything you need in here I am sure. Mostly unbranded but the odd familiarity will occasionally sneak through now and again. You will tend to find there is only one of each item ie one type of tinned tuna, one spaghetti etc so you may be a bit limited however all a good price and fine for a basic shop.
Great for snacks and chocolate!!
Fruit veg=
Always pretty fresh and reasonably priced, not a bad selection again though you may find you want loose mushrooms but they only sell in packs, that kind of thing. The more exotic stuff you will not find.
Chillers=
Pretty limited, but the food I have from here is good quality and nice range of cheeses as you tend to get in these kind of shops! Again only one of each so no variety.
Household stuff=
Toiletries are pretty poor ie shampoos, razors, beauty stuff. Cleaning products range is not bad. Pet food range is poor.
Frozen=
Plenty of brands to choose from here at good prices ie huge Chicago Town lasagne £1.99 which is absolutely massive and feeds 4!! Meat and fish selection I was happy with, frozen desserts was very disappointed with, very small, but do try the chocolate gateau we were really impressed.
Summary=
Alright for a small shop but you may need to top up elsewhere.
Summary: Worth visiting and see how you fare

- 19/11/09 Have you ever been to German Aldi or Lidl? How would you compare them to Netto? To me, Netto sounds pretty basic, similar to Aldi or even worse. I like Lidl. I have not been to this suparmerket for a year or so because of the distance but I really miss it. And now it sells lots of Christmas cookies like dark chocolate lebkuchens. |
