For those who haven't shopped in Netto before, they are relatively big supermarkets, recognisable by their yellow signs (and bags) with the name written in black writing and the black dog which makes up the N of Netto!

I had never shopped in Netto before when I lived in the Highlands of Scotland so had no idea what they were. When I moved to Tyne and Wear, I began shopping there for the first time and loved it.

They sell a lot of their own brands, similar to Aldi and Lidl, but they are different from these shops because they also sell loads of brand names. This makes it really simple to do most of your shopping there without having to go elsewhere.

They also have a section for alcohol and a cigarette counter.

I buy tins of Pepsi there at the bargain price of 4 for just £1. This saves me a fortune (at work, the vending machine charges £0.60 per tin!). I also buy lots of sauces, vegetables and fruits, frozen goods and pet food. You can even top your phone up while buying your shopping.

They have special offers on various things every week (they tend to put free leaflets through local houses, so this can be a fab way to see what is coming up - if not then check their website which also has employment opportunites listed and a store locater) and do a good range of kids toys, good for the home (such as cushions, duvet sets, kitchen goods etc)

If you are looking for a shop which sells a decent choice of food shopping, some pet goods, some toys, and also some smaller furniture items for the home then I really recommend that you give Netto a go. You may not find everything that you need, but will probably be surprised by just how much they actually do stock!

I have always found the staff to be polite and helpful, and keen to point out offers. There are usually plenty about too if you need help with anything, and as a bonus, most stores are open until 8pm.

Summary: Well worth a visit
