New look is the one fashion store for everybody. Whether you are male, female, teenager or child, New look has something for everyone! I have been shopping in New Look since I was about 11 or 12, and even as of today aged 22 I still shop there and will do for a long time until I get too old for New Look clothes! It is crazy how much I have bought/owned from New Look.
Two of the greatest things about New Look is that, firstly they have every item of clothing you can think of in the fashion world from handbags, shoes, dresses, t-shirts, party wear, work wear, you name it! Secondly, everything New Look sells is all at a affordable price, so there's no more debts or breaking the balance, unless you are a shopaholic and like to spend silly amounts of money - don't worry all girls do it, even myself!
For example, t-shirts at a starting price of £2.99 and the most expensive thing I have seen in New Look was either £69.99 or £79.99 for a limited edition item of clothing.
Another great thing about New look is that you can be trendy and keep up to date with all the latest things in fashion without breaking you bank balance!
One of my favorite items that New Look sells is..SHOES! The high heeled ones in particular! A girl can never have too many shoes! The greatest thing about their high heels is that they are sold at a good price of £19.99 and the most expensive I have seen is about £49.99 or £59.99, again limited edition shoes. My whole shoe collection is from New Look, basically all my high heeled shoes are from New Look as they look expensive, good various shapes and sizes. I still have a few pairs from two or three years ago! Very long lasting.
The selections for children/teenagers is from 7-15, a little bit like Tammy for BHS. The same to how New Look is presented, something for everyone whatever the occasion.
Most New Look stores have a menswear section, again like the women's and children and teenager wear something for everyone, all in sizes small to extra large.
New Look is a great place in general, but even better when you are a student because you can get 10% with a valid student card or NUS card, and if you are a student, look out for the 20% discount events they are great, something your bank balances would not be looking for too! I remember those days and spent most of my student loan - oopps. (I miss those days!)
The staff is very good at most New Look stores, very helpful and welcoming.
The presentation of the store is fantastic how everything is laid out, presented, looks all clean and brand new.
There is a New Look is almost every town and city across the UK, (sometimes more especially if you are in a city) so you do not have to worry about traveling far to get to your nearest store.
If you were shopping for any special occasion, new work clothes, or even looking for something to complete your outfit, especially if it is a last minute thing, New Look is the one place I worship for last minute buys! or if you are looking for something just to wear everyday like a coat or jumper! Do it check it out, because you will have a New Look before you know it.
You have probably seen me review a few of New Looks items and so it is obvious I already like them. Here are my thoughts.
Their clothes are amazing. Not only do they have a massive range of dresses - they seem to have every cut imaginable- all of these are at my size (16) and many of them go up to a twnety. The clothes are of good quality and they are very good with returns. There are some very good prices to. Yes if you are looking for a prom dress you can't find that for £20 but there are lots of basis at very reasonable prices.
The clothes also withstand washing very well too.
This is a group of other clothing companies that new look stock to name a couple ax paris and cameo rose. These all offer something a bit different and although they are slightly more pricey than new looks normal range they are still within the averageccustomers budget.
I own many dresses from cameo rose and they are comfy flattering and beautiful.
I have a number of pairs of shoes from heels through to trainers and they all cope with my heavy footedness and are on trend ans affordable too. They often have amazing sales on these.
This is not a section that I buy from but I have read some bad things about them online, as this does not effect me I will not mark them down for it but thought it may be worth mentioning.
The assecories here are also great particularly their range of belts and hair accessories.
Although the shops are good they do not tend to offer everything and some of the employees can be quite rude. The best service I have had is my far at Liverpool One the staff are friendly and helpful but also don't go overboard.
This is where they really come into their own. There are regular sales a HUGE range of products and they are all delivered within yhree to four working days and they are securely wrapped and turn up with zero creases. Delivery is free of you spend over £45 tpo meaning more excuse to shop!
I love New Look and I will continue to buy from them in the future.
Like most girls, i like to shop for clothes and i like to keep up to date with the latest trends, but i don't have an endless supply of cash to help me do so. New Look helps me to keep bang up to date with the latest fashions, as well as stocking a vast range of wardrobe staples, all at pretty reasonable prices.
I visit New Look virtually every time i go shopping and i generally always buy something. Basic tops come in from around £8 to around £15 with fashion tops more in the region of £20-£25. Knitwear is generally in the £15-£25 price bracket, jeans from around £10 to £30 and jackets can range from £30-£50. Prices have crept up a bit over the last few years however this is the same with every high street retailer and i do still feel that New Look offers good value for money clothing which is trendy and easily available. They also have a wide selection of shoes, bags, accessories, nightwear, lingerie, menswear, maternity wear, a tall range, a petite range, plus size range and a range for teenagers.
As a taller lady, i particularly like the tall range and New Look is one of the only retailers now stocking such a range. They have trousers up to a 36inch inside leg and tops, knitwear and jackets which are proportioned for taller girls. Over recent years i have noticed that the tall range has got smaller in size however there is still a small selection online which is very welcome.
Overall, i would recommend New Look to people of all ages who want fashionable clothing at an affordable price.
I am writing a review for New Look as there has recently been a brand new store within my area which has completely changed my opinions on the New look brand!
We previously just had a very small New look store which held only a few decent items- in fact I hardly ever bought my clothes from that store!
HOWEVER our New Look store is now literally 10 times bigger, and the clothes have improved 100%.
New Look in my town definitely holds the largest range of shoes and although I'm not a 'shoe fanatic' New look is always the first place I look.
From flats to heels, younger shoes to formal shoes, New Look also stocks 'wider fit' shoes which I have found to be very comfortable!
It is the prices I love the most when it comes to the shoes though, which I discovered when out buying my mum some birthday gifts. I managed to get some lovely black high heels for just £7! although these were on sale, the full price was only around £15 which I think is also very decent.
One of the biggest improvements to our store is the mens section! In fact, I now shop in New Look MUCH more as I can now take my partner in there and leave him in the mens whilst I can shop in peace without him complaining!
The mens section in our store is quite small, but provides the best t shirts in our opinion with decent prices.
I also find some of the mens clothes suitable for myself! Their plain zip up hoodies are a better fit for me and I think they have nicer colours!
In our store there is also a larger sizes section which is great for curvier ladies. Although I can never shop in that area myself which I hate as they do different clothes, and theres many times where I find something I like! I don't understand why the larger sizes are completely different clothes, why don't they just make larger sizes in everything? Although new look are trying to provide clothes for all sizes, I still think they are sectioning out the larger sizes as they make different clothes for the larger sizes yet dont make them in the smaller sizes, which is the same as not making the smaller sizes in larger sizes!
New look also have a childrens corner in our store with sizes around age 5 to 16 I think! Although I find the prices aren't much cheaper than the adult sizes!
New look is always the first place I now look for a new outfit! I recently grabbed a gilet (body warmer) which was priced at £16.99 with £5 off, so I paid just £11.99 for a good quality jacket!
However I still shop at primark for my underwear, and I still prefer River Island jeans... New look is the place I go for tshirts, tops, jumpers, cardigans, shoes etc!
The prices are DEFINITELY better valued than Topshop, and I love that there are cheaper items such as £2.99 tops- cheaper than primark!
Student discount is another major reason why I shop at New Look as i get an extra 10% off the full priced items!
Overall, I am very happy with our new store and I will continue to shop at new look! Their prices are great and I am always pleased with the clothing quality!
New Look is, along with Primark and H&M, where I buy most of my clothes, shoes and jewellery. This is for a number of reasons.
Firstly, they have an excellent range of products on sale, from basics such as plain vest tops and t-shirts to beautiful summer dresses. The only pair of jeans I've ever bought that fit me comfortably were purchased from New Look a few months ago. While some of the items sold there are not to my tastes, I can always walk into a New Look store and see at least a few things I have to stop myself from buying unnecessarily! As a student, the clothing is very much aimed at my age and social group. For older women it may not be so appealing, as there's a definite student vibe to many of the clothes.
Being a student also has the advantage that they offer a 10% discount; this is not offered by either Primark or H&M and is one of the reasons I generally prefer shopping at New Look. The clothes are reasonably priced to begin with and the 10% discount makes this even more so. It is not applicable to sales items, but this is not something I have a problem with.
Generally the customer service at New Look compares favourably to other similar shops, particularly to Primark. The sales assistants are always helpful and friendly without being overbearing. I've occasionally had a less than excellent experience but generally this is not the case.
My one issue with New Look is that often smaller stores don't seem to stock items in my size; as a size 6, I have to visit slightly larger stores to find clothes that fit me. I'm also fairly certain they operate a vanity sizing system due to the fact that I'm a size 6 in New Look, but I don't think this can be accurate. However, luckily I live near a relatively large store and so this isn't usually too much of a problem. The online store is also easy to navigate and so if there's something I'm particularly keen on getting, I can usually find it on there.
In my local town we have 2 New Looks, and whenever I go shopping I always pop into both.
New Look's clothes are on trend, colourful and for all ages. They stock trousers, jeans, shorts, dresses, cardigans, jackets, skirts - basically everything! They also do a kid's range (Generation 9-15) a plus size range (Inspire) a maternity range and a men's range (N.L Man). New Look's clothes are generally good quality, although occasionally I come across something that feels and looks cheap and tacky. A lot of their clothes are thin, translucent and skimpy, which I don't like, and about 70% of the store is aimed at young women, so it would be nice if they introduced some clothes for older women.
Price wise, New Look is slightly pricey. I recently bought a black pencil skirt from there, full price for £17.99 and I was disappointed. But I only ever shop there in the sales where you can snap up some real bargains, such as ballet pumps for £4, shorts and trousers for £7, dresses for £9, skirts for £8 and so on.
The changing rooms are generally clean and comfortable and staff are attentive and friendly (but this may vary from shop to shop).
All in all New Look is an great store, but not my first port of call when shopping.
Its clear to see New Look has been going through some rapid changes of late, within the last 5 years we have had logo rebrands, plus size and mens clothing introduced, plus size and mens clothing then slashed right back, New Look only selling its own brands, to now selling UK retail leaders brands such as Lipsy. Change is good some say, where New Look is concerned im not so sure.
In a family with men, and a couple of plus size ladies along with healthy size 12s, i upon recently seen New Look as a store we could all go to. A time when a New Look giftcard at Christmas would be burning a hole in my purse waiting to be spent. Now its a giftcard that i would rather avoid. For me, and most probably many other women, New Look was its own brand, one you would be proud of wearing and featuring all the latest designs. The same clothes could be found in a size 6-26 and you were never embarrassed about what you were wearing - men also looked very fashionable. This all was at a great price, not obviously cheap as Primark but just bit more for much better, and more ethical, clothing. Times have changed for New Look, and i do not have to really say what it is like now, as a trip to the High Street will point out - but in brief you will be greeted with tatty clothes that will wash out within a few weeks, a very high price, and finding yourself saying "oh thats nice!" and it isnt infact a New Look branded product your looking at. Plus size ladies now have such a limited wear of clothes its easy to not know where the section for it is. As for men, well my local New Look just stopped selling mens clothes full stop - but the city centre has one of about a 1/4 of one floor - with most of that being shoes. This store was also just short of 1/2 for men, with lots of variety....but now this has ended. Im an intelligent person and know that the economic downturn can effect stores differently, and if mens wear/plus size/own brands were not selling, to reduce them - but i find New Look has lost its identity. Which is a great shame. I cannot see New Look lasting much longer.
As for the stores and clothes review then.....
New Look stores can be found in most towns and cities, and it is a store that you know is worth a look - as chances are any kind of clothes or accessories your looking for is in there. From bikinis, to underwear, to PJs to Belts theres something for every occasion you are looking for. The stores i find are quite untidy, but i guess thats due to flimsy rails with heavy hangers, and New Looks desire to have millions of things cramed on one rail. The cleanliness of the store is always very good, the products which fall on the floor is more untidy rather than general cleanliness. The staff are always very helpful, and in all fairness you can tell New Look employ quality staff and put alot of training into them. The layout of the store is very good, usually easy to navigate to a certain section. Things however are usually everywhere, with very narrow walking spaces, so if you are taking a pram or with a trolley, please be aware you stand a high chance of loosing your temper and walking out - especially on a Saturday. Most stores have changing room facilities, sectioned off for men and women. Women are usually private with a heavy curtain to draw across. In busy times in city centre New Looks however you dont feel very private - the heavy curtain can be a little short at either end and when somebody is stood outside your curtain waiting you feel a bit self-conscious.
As for online....
The website is very good, for men and women. It is usually well stocked, and has lots of oportunities for free delivery. I feel that the website would benefit a bit more from a really good zoom in, rotate tool, like rival places have, as a few things have turned up to my house not exactly as expected. and has a lot of choice, however using the website is not one of the easiest things to do. Online is easier at busier times in store, but for peace of mind if you havent got long between the delivery time and your special day you require the clothes for - go to the store. There is less chance of a mistake then which i have heard happens quite alot from friends.
Now the prices...
Personally i find now the prices of clothes as on the more expensive side, as opposed to how New Look used to operate which was towards the lower end. Cardigans i once bought for £9 have shot up to £22, including many many other products. However, most clothes are £40 or under of their own brand, but if you are picking up a dress, say for example, dont expect much change from £50. The quality is good, but has changed from what i used to call 'excellent'. Loose threads, washed out colours, and a change in size has all be experience by my family! One tip would be if the lable says a certain washing type, please follow that or your clothes will be ruined. Nothing has ripped though, the clothes are usually quite dureable. Style wise, New Look is very good. You can always count on them for releasing the latest fashion, however again i feel this has lessened but is understood by the financial state we are in. New Look have always provided clothes that you know you are not going to be ashamed to wear. The style is very much on trend.
As mentioned you can buy quality clothes, but they do a lot of gifts, especially Miss Kitty and Me to You bear items, which are very nice and are actually not too expensive. The age range of the store has always seemed to be 13-60 which has always been good for New Look though i feel now it is more 16-30, centered a lot around slim clubbers is my personal opinion.
Now for my summary...
The clothes are on the whole good, and you know you will look very stylish wearing them. I feel the store has lost/is losing its identity, but it does seem to be still very popular with the teenagers. I will shop again at New Look, but not until after i have looked in the likes of TopShop, Dorothy Perkins etc, which i feel is a shame because i never used to be like this. Altogether, if you have enough money, young slim lady who likes to look stylish - New Look is your first choice... if your not - look elsewhere. If you are in the market for necklaces, bracelets, handbags etc - New Look is well worth a look as to me, there identity here has never been lost.... lovely items.
New Look is a British High Street Store. Their 'core audience' is women between the ages of 16 and 30, however in 2001 they also started doing men's clothing. New Look also have children's clothes. New Look now has stores in Belgium, France, Russia, Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands.
~ * What Can I Buy At New Look? *~
Clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, nightwear, lingerie, children's clothes, jewellery, make-up, nail varnish and gift sets etc (there are loads of these at Christmas time, however can be bought throughout the year).
I have been shopping at New Look since...well forever. My sister always used to shop there as a teenager and so I used to go there with her and find things I also liked.
I always used to think that New Look was for 'younger people' and considered it to be a 'teenage shop' which I think it was; however, over the last few years I have noticed that they have clothes to suit all ages which I think is great.
Being a student, one of the things which I love about New Look is the fact that they offer a 10% student card to all students; you do have to show your student card to prove that you are a student. At the beginning of a new term (September/October), they usually offer a 20% discount for students which I think is excellent as it means that you can stock up on clothes for the 'school year' at a cheaper price. You cannot however, use your student discount card when paying for sale items.
There is also the option of having a store card, although whilst regularly being offered the chance at the till; I always say no. However, a couple of my friends have New Look store cards and say how good they are (they even receive money-off coupons through the post). Although, I personally think that you actually end up spending more.
Another good thing about New Look is the fact that they have clothes to suit all occasions whether it is everyday clothes your after, work wear or 'going out' clothes; they have it all here. I especially love at Christmas time when they have a very large collection of dresses and party wear available. They also have plenty of choice for their 'normal' clothes too and so there is always plenty of options to choose from.
As for value for money, I do think that New Look are quite reasonable. I have noticed that their prices have seem to have shot up in the last couple of years. A couple of years ago, I could easily find a whole outfit for less than £50 (say a dress and shoes etc), although now, I find it impossible to find a nice going out outfit for less than £50 which is a shame.
The clothes are of good quality though and usually last a good while. I have only ever had one or two 'problems' with items bought from New Look. Although this is a tiny problem considering that amount of clothes I have bought over the years that have been great. One of my 'problems' was with a cotton top which I paid around £9 for. I had only worn the top once and then noticed that holes were starting to appear. I was actually wearing the top at work and there were loads of little holes appearing throughout the day which I thought was weird (I was actually quite embarrassed too, thinking "oh my god, I hope no one has noticed I have holes in my top, because there were no holes when I put it on in the morning!). Anyway, I took it back to the shop, and they were very helpful and said that it had happened to a some of the other tops. The weird thing though was that, the top was available in other colours (which I also had) and yet they were fine, it was just that one coloured top which was affected. I received a refund with no problem which was good.
I can always find clothes in my size (I vary between a 12-14 on top to a 16 on bottom) and yet there is always plenty of each size which is good. They also have a section of clothing in larger sizes (18+) which is great as it means that everybody can shop at New Look.
Whilst New Look is fashionable and on trend, they do have some basic clothes which are very cheap - tank tops, vests etc which are available all year around for very low prices. You can easily get a vest for around £3.99 and as they are so low in price you can buy the same top in many different colours. For this reason, I find that New Look is very valuable when holiday shopping as their basic clothing is so cheap.
I also like how New Look keep their 'basic' items. For example, they have what they call a 'boyfriend cardigan' which I have been buying for the last couple of years. The cardigan consists of a long cardigan with loose pockets. They are always available and throughout the year they add different colours depending on the season. So in the summer they will add lighter colours. Over the years I have collected the exact same cardigan in red, black, navy blue, aqua, white and peach. They are currently priced at £12.99 which I think is good value for money. These cardigans are so useful and are suitable for everyday wear of for work wear. They are so comfortable and go with anything. So I am very grateful that New Look keep their most popular items and don't 'stop doing' them when the seasons out; these cardigans will always be in fashion though.
The staff are usually very helpful and are happy to help, which is nice. There are always plenty of staff members buzzing about, although as they don't wear uniform it can get confusing knowing who's staff and who isn't.
The changing rooms are quite large and you don't normally have to queue which is good. Although, having said that I do think that it depends on which New Look you are visiting. I much prefer the larger stores as there is much more choice, more changing rooms and more 'space'. Whereas there is a very small New Look close to me, and it is so tiny and no space to move at all, so if someone comes in with a buggy you have to go on the side to let them pass as there is only one very narrow aisle. This puts me off shopping there as I feel that I am always in someone's way and so feel like I can't look at the clothes properly. Although this is just my local store. The rest of the New Look's I have been to in bigger towns are great though!
I would definitely recommend New Look.
Thanks for reading!

Stores & Website
NewLook shops can pretty much be found in most towns and cities, it's a staple clothes store and it's one of thoes placse were you know you will find something what your after. It might not be the most stylist cut or wackiest design, but you know you will be able to find something what your looking for here. The stores are laid out very well, with their basics all together along with their swim wear /coats (when it's the appropiate season for each) usually placed in the middle of the store. Most stores have a changing room facility, however don't rely on this, as I have been to some smaller town shops which don't have them. Now when you walk into these stores they are mainly classed as a womens store, however my local store use to have a very small mens section; no more though, the men have been over ruled by more female clothes :)
The website is very well stocked and has a lot of choice, however using the website is not one of the easiest things to do. I personally don't like the online site; I find the photos are of very poor quality and the layout is quite 'cluttered'. I have gone online in the past but really do not like going on it, as I think it's very un-organized layout.
Price & Style
Overall the price of the clothes are quite reasonable, with most items being less than £30, and a vast majority of the 'basics' being less than £20. The quality is good, I can't think of anything I have bought from there that has ripped or anything so the quality is good. The style is very much on trend, they have have a lot of 'on trend' and current season items, however they are very basic style. For example the same top may be in both TopShop and NewLook; of course the price will be a lot more in TopShop however soemtimes you can see the difference in style in paying that extra. I will often buy items such as tank tops, vest tops, baggy tshirts from here, but anything else I will try and look around else were for.
Clothes, shoes, accessories, childrens clothes, purses, bags, underwear(which is raelly good value for money and quality) and they even have a lovely range of giftsets at Christmas. You can also buy gift cards which are a nice little idea for christmas and brithdays. I belive they also have the option to get a store card, which I haven't done personally but the option is there.
Despite me giving this store quite glowing reviews, I'll be honest and say I'm not that keen this store, and hardley go into it. I won't rule this store out as an option, however it's not going to be my main store to shop in.
New Look is a high street clothing shop with clothes at reasonable prices. I particularly love New Look for the shoe section.
If you enjoy having a new pair of heels that are comfortable, glitzy and stylish then you will be a fan. They have every kind of heel you can imagine and a lot of them look a lot more expensive than they are.
I also love their dress and going out section. In the winter before xmas they had a huge range of party dresses in all styles to suit all shapes and sizes.
They have a plus size section and sometimes a menswear section if you are worried you wont fit their clothes.
In most branches I have been in the staff have been very helpful, especially in the changing rooms they are happy to find you the correct size. The changing rooms are quite large and have a sofa for your shopping partner to sit on. They have large mirrors and although the lighting is too bright for seeing your club wear in its natural habitat there is enough room to get changed.
They also stock nice suits, work tops and matching accessories. I have been shopping in New Look since I was a teenager and I still enjoy their clothes and the styles. The quality is great and the clothes last for a long time. If you do have any problems then just take the product back with a receipt and they are happy to refund it. Also if you are a student dont forget your student card as you get 20% off all full price items.
About New Look
New Look is high street chain shop which was founded back in 1969. The shop is pretty much everywhere with stores in countries such as France, Singapore, Malta and so on. Obviously it is also here in the UK and there is usually atleast one store in each town and city. The ones I have personally visited are: Leicester, Birmingham, London (Oxford Street) and Grimsby. My local store is in Meadowhall (Sheffield) and this is the one I most regulary shop in. New Look are a fashion retailer and focus mainly on womens clothes, although they do also cater for men, teenagers and children. I will go into these catergories later in my review. They also sell shoes, jewellery, bags, watches and clothing accessories such as belts, hats and gloves. I feel the range of New Look's products is generous however definetly could be expanded - I would love it if they brought out a makeup range like Topshop and Primark have and perhaps a wider range of accessories as I do feel the jewellery is quite limited.
The website (www.newlook.com) is a pleasant site to use - it looks good and is quick and easy to use. The layout is extremely simple and navigation is easy. There are tabs at the top which are easy to work your way through to find what you want and there is also a search bar which is just as simple to use. The pictures of items are displayed clearly and are laid neatly with the prices displayed clearly underneath. Upon clicking the picture of an item you like, it will take you to the item's own personal page which has a product description and a larger picture, which can be zoomed in on to show the detail which is handy when purchasing a patterned jumper or textured bag. At the very top of the New Look website there is the 'Help Centre' which you can use if you want to know something in particular about the website, your order, delivery or returns. Signing up to the site can be quickly accomplished by clicking onto the register tab on the top right hand side of the page. You will need to enter your address and phone number however will only be recquired to provide your payment details upon paying for an item. Your payment details can be stored for efficiency or deleted completely from the site. Delivery from New Look is quite steep in my opinion.
The delivery charges are as follows:
- UK Standard (2 to 4 working days) £3.95
- UK Next Day - £4.95
Postage to countries outside of the UK varies, with the highest postage charge been £10. If you live in the UK and spend over £45, delivery is free, and if you are an international customer and spend over £55 you will qualify for free delivery. I personally always pay for UK standard delivery as it is cheapest, but sometimes I do a big £45 shop and get the delivery free. Delivery usually takes around 3 to 4 days and all of my orders have been delivered by a courier, usually UPS. All seem friendly and on the occasion that I wasn't home, my parcel was left with a neighbor and the driver left a clear note stating where my parcel was which I appreciated as some couriers don't bother, or simply leave it by the door which is very dodgy! Packaging wise my orders all came in a grey air tight bag and each individual item of clothing was wrapped in its own plastic bag. Each item still had the price tags on and i've never had any issues with been sent the wrong colour or size nor have I had issues with parcels getting lost etc. I have only had to return one item but chose to take it into my local store as it is much easier than returning via post, but this is an option if you do not have a local New Look store - if you need to a return an item it seems to be a simple process which can be achieved by clicking on 'Returns' at the bottom of the New Look website.
My local New Look is generous in size. It is nicely laid out with laminated tile flooring. The walls are a a very basic, neutral colour with a few posters advertising offers, sales and in season clothing and there are also a few full length mirrors dotted around the store which are nice and clean. There are also a few mannequins which are white in colour and model a range of clothing - mainly mens though. There are a row of changing rooms which are quite cramped and stuffy but there is a full length mirror in each and a little seat to rest your bag on/sit down to get changed. The clothing catergories (kids, women, men) are all nicely laid out and the shoe area has got little padded benches to sit on while trying the shoes on. I have found my local store to be quite spacios and don't have any trouble with bumping in to anyone even when it is packed. The checkouts are at the entrance of the store and are nice and clean and there's always a member of staff on the tills to serve you so ques don't get too long, although I would reccomend going there either early morning or after work/uni as it can get busy during the day time, especially on weekends and although it has air con it can get quite stuffy and caulstraphobic. There is usually 3 or 4 store assistants wondering around the shop and they've always been friendly and polite, although the uniform could do with smartening up as they are usually in jeans and a plain top which can be confusing - i've often mistaken a fellow bargain hunter and asked them where something is only to be looked at like a total weirdo, lol. I have noticed recently though that some of them have name badges, but not all of them for some weird reason. The staff always seem to be working hard - putting stuff away, tidying the hangers and assisting anyone who needs help in finding something. When I first started shopping in New Look it used to be staffed mainly by teenage girls who looked about 18 who would stand around gossiping, but now there is a wider variety of staff and they rarely stand around chit chatting which I think shows respect to the customers as I do feel uncomfortable when shop assistants are whispering lol.
The womens clothing range is definetly the largest. It consists of:
I have found the New Look dresses to be really good and although the range isn't massive, there is definetly plenty to choose from and something for almost everyone. The styles do hugely vary and there are lots of different designs to choose from such as maxi dresses, bodycon dresses, off the shoulder type dresses, summer dresses, day dresses, knitted dresses and party dresses. I have only purchased 3 dresses from New Look and I love them all. I have a gorgeous smock type one which if I remember correctly was around the £40 mark. It is 100% cotton and is so soft and versatile and it has lasted extremely well as I bought it back in 2007 for a friends 16th birthday party. The other 2 dresses I own from New Look are both bodycon dresses which I got in the sale for around £10. They are both also lasting well and I honestly have no complaints with any of them. Price wise, the average price for a New Look dress is around £35, although there are a few cheaper ones which are around the £20 mark. Prices do vary and the most expensive one on the New Look website is currently £87.
I love buying tops from New Look as there is so much choice. There are gypsy tops, polo tops, vests, basic T shirts, T shirts with slogans/prints on them, hoodies, jumpers, crop tops and evening tops. I have so many vests from New Look as they are so comfy, durable, versatile and cheap. I have New Look vests in my wardrobe that are 5 plus years old and they still look pretty much good as new! There are so many different pattered and styled tops available and prices do vary. Basic T shirts and vests are usually around the £5-£10 mark, with hoodies priced at £15-£20. The evening tops are the most expensive and the prices of New Look tops range dramatically, with the highest priced top currently costing £55. I personally buy mainly the vests as I said before, but I also love the hoodies. They're really lightweight but despite this are soft and warm and last for absolutely ages. I also like the T shirts with slogans on as they're really cute and pretty good value too, with a current 2 for £12 offer on. I have found the New Look tops to be of really good quality - great material which lasts well and feels nice, and this is definetly my favourite catergory of the store. The only downside is that most of the tops are waist length, and I prefer longer tops, although I do sometimes come across slightly longer ones.
* Shirts and Blouses
The shirts and blouses catergory is suprisingly large and I always buy my shirts from New Look as there are so many different styles and designs to choose from. There are sleeveless shirts, short sleeve shirts, boyfriend shirts, peter pan collar type shirts, check shirts, sheer shirts, lace shirts, pussy bow shirts, work shirts and blouses. I buy the sheer shirts and the work shirts, both of which are great quality - the material is great quality and feels nice and silky just like a more expensive shirt would. I especially love the Peter Pan collared shirt that I got in a recent New Look sale for just £4 - even at its RRP of £18 it was a complete bargain due to how good the quality is. I've found that unlike alot of other shops, the New Look shirts (unless designed to be oversized!) are really well fitting and have a very feminine fit to them - alot of other brand shirts make me feel silly but the New Look shirts are very in fashion and designed to look really girly and trendy. Most of the designs of the shirts are more for casual wear (the coloured/patterned ones), aIthough they do have lovely plain ones with very subtle lace detailing which are casual but smart enough for work and the one I have which is panneled makes my work outfit that bit more pretty, lol.
I love the knitwear catergory! There is absolutely so much to choose from - jumpers and tunics (chunky knit, fluffy, patterned, textured - including holey, basic), cardigans (chunky knit, patterned, boyfriend, cropped) and shawl type tops. I own so many New Look cardigans it's insane! The New Look knitwear is not the cheapest, but definetly worth the price and it is much, much cheaper than the Topshop knitwear which is usually double or more the price. My New Look knitwear collection mainly consists of the chunky knit cardigans although I also have quite a few of the boyfriend cardigans which I adore. The range of jumpers is also lovely and there is plenty of choice. Most of the New Look knitwear is acrylic which I do think is a bit of a let down as I personally prefer cotton or wool, however I can't really complain as the knitwear from the New Look range has all lasted well although a few of my cardi's have bobbled a little but I suppose this is just because of the amount of time I have worn and washed them. They definetly are longer lasting than Primark and Matalan cardigans and are only a tenner or so more expensive. As I said before, the designs are very similar to Topshop and the quality is definetly equal. One of my favourite cardigans that I got from New Look was just £8 (not reduced - it was the RRP) and it is identical to a £50 Topshop cardi. I really would reccomend there knitwear - it's great value, great quality and all of my cardi's and jumpers from New Look keep m nice and warm.
* Coats and Jackets
This is probably the only catergory I am not keen on. I personally find the range of styles to be very limited. The styles available are blazers, parkas, macs, leather jackets, denim jackets, duffle coats, fluffy/faux fur coats and gillets. I own a blazer from this range and a faux fur coat. The blazer is available in lots of colours and a few different styles (boyfriend, ruffled) and colours. I find this blazer to be the best fitting that I currently own and it is much better fitting than my £130 All Saints one, believe it or not! It is a little on the heavy side but fits well and is made of good, versatile material. My faux fur coat is also great and looks much more expensive than it actually was. The price range of New Look coats and jackets does vary, but I don't think that any of them are priced at more than the £60 mark and considering the up to date, fashionable and expensive looking designs, I definetly wouldn't hesitate paying £60 for a New Look coat if I liked the style of it as I know it will be long lasting, comfy and worth my hard earned cash.
* Playsuits and Jumpsuits
This catergory isn't huge, but has plenty of choice - flared jumpsuits, tea playsuits, patterned playsuits and jumpsuits (floral, polkadot), cutout jumpsuits, etc. I have a playsuit which I love, however I do have a slight issue - it's way too long! I do definetly think that the playsuits and jumpsuits are aimed at slightly taller girls as they use 5'8 models to model the clothing on the website and the mannequins in store are also pretty tall. I do still love the playsuit though - like all of the New Look items that I own, it is of good quality and is lasting well after around a year of me owning it.
* Trousers and Jeans
I love New Look jeans, but i'm not keen on there range of work trousers and chinos. I find the work trousers are way too long for me and the chinos don't fit as well as my pair of Topshop chinos do. The jeans however fit me perfecttly. There is the option of high waisted, flared, bootcut, skinny, straight or boyfriend style jeans. I always get the skinny and they fit really well. The New Look range of jeans is really good because the sizing options are wide and also really accurate. There is a choice of a 28, 30, 32 or 34 inch leg and there are also cropped jeans available. I think that the New Look jeans are the best I own and considering they are reasonably priced (£12-£30), I would definetly reccomend them. There is also a range of colours to suit anyones taste such as stonewashed, black and even colour block jeans (pink, green etc).
The New Look leggings are also great. There are lots of styles and pattterns and they are good quality. I own around 5 pairs of the normal leggings and one pair of the jeggings. All of them are really comfy and fit well. I have had no issues with the leggings been baggy around my knees or too long (I have this issue with most leggings), and they also last well - they wash without bobbling, shrinking or stretching and don't lose colour or softness. The leggings are priced at around £9, while the jeggings are slightly more expensive - mine were £13.
I love New Look shorts! There is so much choice and the prices are amazing. They have a huge range of styles including high waisted shorts, hotpants, tailored shorts, (faux) leather shorts, check shorts, cord shorts, etc. I've currently got around 5 pairs of New Look shorts and they are all amazing quality and fit perfectly - they're very true to size and also feel like they're of good quality. I particullary like the Cord shorts as they are identical to my Topshop pair but cost me £20 less! The price range of shorts varies from style to style but prices start at around £12 and go upto £30 ish.
* Socks and Underwear
I really like the New Look undies. They have so many different styles and patterns to choose from. There are frenchies, thongs, briefs and bra's. There is a long term offer on the knickers which is 3 for £6. I think that considering the good quality and the fashionable designs this is a really good price. I also love the bras and usually get the packs of 2 push up bras which are £12. There are also strapless bras, bandeaus and balconette bras. I prefer the plain bras although there are patterned bras and also lingerie type bras which have lace detailing.
I usually buy my nightwear from Primark due to how cheap it is, but after recently buying a pyjama set from New Look I will definetly be buying more. There are lots of different pyjama designs such as pj bottoms, pj sets (shorts and a vest or trousers and a t shirt) and pj tops. There are also dressing gowns and nighties. The prices vary alot but for a pair of pj bottoms it is around £12 and for a pj set £20 which compared to Primark is much more expensive but the quality is amazing and I could tell the difference straight away. There are also character pyjamas such as Betty Boop and Snoopy which are a bit more expensive than the plainer ones but they are very cute.
The range of shoes is amazing. They sell ballet pumps, flats, wedges, brogues, smart work type shoes, boots (both heeled and flat), sandals, courts, heels and slippers. I own around 10 pairs of New Look heels and love each pair to bits however sad that may sound! They have lots of different patterned heels such as leapord print etc and they also have heels which look like pumps which I am in awe of and will be buying some as soon as my next pay check clears! I also have a few pair of the pumps and also love them although I do find that the sole is slightly too thin. The designs of the pumps are all different - I have suede ones, faux leather ones, patterned ones and also a pair with sequins on - there really is something for everyone! New Look even have a range of shoes for people with wider than average feet which I think is great! Alot of shops do shoes for people with wider feet that look noticeably wider and 'different' but the New Look ones don't - they really neat and discreet looking if that makes sense. Sizing wise, New Look shoes are available in sizes 3,4,5,6,7,8,9. They do not do half sizes as far as I am aware. I have found all of my pairs of New Look shoes to be true to size and comfy and they all fit well. The only issue I have ever had with the shoes was when I got a pair of brogues which smelt strongly of plastic, however I complained and got a replacement straight away - without a receipt, which I thought was good and I was really happy that they trusted me enough to give me a replacement, although saying that they probably recognised me as a regular customer I am a bit of a New Look addict!
The accessory section includes bags, purses, jewellery etc. The jewellery is nice but is quite limited as most of the designs look very similar/bland and alot of it is covered in diamantes which I personally find tacky, however there are a few nice pieces if you keep your eye out. Price wise the jewellery is pretty cheap with the maximum price for a nice necklace been around £15 and rings around £10. The bags are nice too and there are lots of different designs - totes, shoppers, handbag, shoulder bags, satchels, etc. I have a gorgeus faux leather bag which was £15 and I love it, it looks amazing. They also sell hats, gloves, belts and scarfs in the accessory range which are all fashionable and reasonably priced.
Well, as I am not a man there is not a huge amount I can say about this particular catergory, however the clothes available are as follows:
T shirts and vests
Cardigans and jumpers
Coats and jackets
Jeans, chinos and shorts
Hoodies and sweaters
Underwear, socks and pyjamas
There is also an accessories section for men which includes watches, headphones, jewellery, costume glasses, bags, wallets and gloves.
Children and Teenagers
The children range caters for both female and male children. The age range is 2 to 10 years old. The clothes are all very cute and it includes almost everything you would expect - pretty tops, t shirts, jeans, pj's etc and also shoes. The teenage range (for some reason) only sells female clothing, with the age range starting at 7 and going up to 16. I have no idea why they class a 7 year old as a teenager but nevermind! The teenage range includes everything that the womens range includes and despite been almost 20 I am quite happy to admit that I often shop in the teenage section as they have some lovely stuff and as I am petite, the teenage range of clothing is usually better fitting than the womens. Like the womens and mens section, the teenage section also has an accessories catergory which includes purses, bags, hats, scarves, etc.
As you can see, New Look sell a huge range of clothes and cater to pretty much everyone. Prices are reasonable and clothes are of good quality. The store is clean, well laid out and staff are always helpful. The website is easy to use and understand and I would definetly reccomend New Look to anyone who hasn't shopped there before.
Having to attend a christening recently throw me into a blind panic what to wear as naturally I have nothing in my wardrobe at all suitable so on a recent trip to my local town and very little money I popped into New Look and was extremely surprised at the variety on offer.
New Look is to my mind a young persons store however the range of bang on trend as well as classic wardrobe pieces was staggering.
In my local branch they have
Inspire size 18+
Girls from 9 years
I was very impressed by the range on offer and indeed had to remind myself that I did not have a small fortune available to spend however I bought a floaty blue chiffon dress which in my mind looked more like a monsoon dress but at £14.99 was a absolute bargain.
I was very unsure about the dress and the assistant advised I needed a smaller size (what joy!) and went and looked for one for me as there was not one on the shop floor she bought an alternative and looked in the stock room at the time I was also shopping with my not very patient 3 year old and the assistant kept her entertained and was not at all fazed by the her game of removing all the changing room chairs about!
I was impressed by everything I looked at and the range available in trousers design some things I thought were a positive steal whilst there were other items that seemed very expensive and not any cheaper than higher end shops.
I have to be honest and I really think this is a store that caters for all ages and has a very impressive range, plus if you work for the NHS, Army or are a student you get 10% discount. Check out the website at www.newlook.co.uk for more information.
New look is a shop that caters mostly for females as I never find that there is not much there for men as I have looked their countless times for my boyfriend I find that most of the male stuff look for teenagers, they do also cater for children which is not somewhere where I have looked. Most of their clothes are affordable I do find some things a little pricey but they are much better then place like Topshop. New look is always fashionable and always keep in trend with what's out at the moment, they do have sales and when they do it is like a jumble sale this is one of the down points as the shop does get very messy and it is hard to find stuff in your size as everything is just mixed up, it would do them well to put the clothes in sizes as this is one thing that puts me off as I don't want to waste time searching through size that are either too small or too big. The staffs at the checkout are always polite and generally make a slight conversation at the tills, I've not really had much experience with people on the shop floor but they do tend to always look busy stocking up or sorting stuff out. One really good thing about new look is that it offers 10% discount to students and sometimes it goes up to 20% at certain times of the year.
I've always got the impression that New Look is more suited for teenagers, purely because of the people I see there when I go shopping. But at 23 years old I'm still able to find clothes there to suit me.
New Look offers a range of products including casual wear, formal wear, nightwear, shoes, jewellery and other accessories. Some New Look stores also sell men's wear, although my boyfriend always appears disgusted when I ask if he'd like to buy anything from New Look (I think because it's perceived as a women's shop)
I've shopped in a wide range of New Look stores across the country and find that the staff are always willing to help and knowledgeable about the products on sale. The stores always seem well staffed and queues go down quickly.
More recently, larger branches of New Look have begun to stock designer ranges in an area of the store. These include apricot and pussycat london which are among my favourites. I think it gives an extra section for you to look around especially if you're searching for something special as these clothes are more expensive. New Look also offers a range of clothing which is called 915 which is for children.
The shops always seem well stocked and I can usually find things in a size that I want. I'm a size 8/10 so I can't really comment on the availability of other sizes.
One of the things I found brilliant about New Look during my student days was that they offered 10% discount when a valid student card was shown. Some times they even increased it to a 20% discount which was when I bought most of my clothes!
The main disadvantage I have found with this store is the durability of the clothing. I often have clothes where the hems come unravelled or bit begin to fall off, this is especially true with cardigans and jumpers as I find the part around my wrists comes undone. Yet I keep going back! I guess that's because the prices are quite cheap really so I don't expect things to last forever.
Another thing is that sometimes especially during sale periods, the store can get quite messy with clothes hung over rails and spread over the floor but I think this is something you'd expect during the sales anyway.
Overall, I love New Look and shop there regularly, I'd recommend it. Only 4 stars because of the poor quality of some of the clothing.

New Look it probably the shop i use most when buying clothes, I find that I really like the style of clothes but they are not as expensive as places such as Top Shop though having said that i but everything in the sale because not matter what new stuff New Look release it always ends up in the sale! I never like paying full price for things so it really works for me that New Look always seem to have sales on. I think they are pretty good at keeping up with trends but that doesn't really bother me. Their quality isn't as great as some shops like Top Shop or Dorothy Perkins but it does seem to be a lot cheaper so unless it something dressy it doesn't bother me.
I think because they have sales so often the find it hard to keep the shop tidy as whenever I go into a new it is always a bit messy and things are always in the wrong place but it not like it is unclear it just people rummage through the sale stuff all the time so things end up on the floor and stuff.
One thing I really love about New Look is their organic cotton range of tops they are really simple, plain and cheep but are by far the Tops and T-Shirts I own, they wear really well and wash up great without losing their shape. I have never really had a problem finding my size in because they seem to stock their sizes quite well I am a 14/16 so it might be different for other sizes not sure.
New Look have always been pretty good with returns, personally I have never had a problem taking something back, they used to let you return sale items as well but now they have stopped that! Though I have only regularly visit three or four New Looks that are fairly local to me I have found for the most part that the staff are neither helpful or unhelpful. Sometimes you will get a girl that ask you if you want help and generally on the tills they are quite friendly but most in my experience are bit stand offish and don't really go out of their way to help you. Maybe I am being a bit harsh but all the staff are pretty young and are normally more interested in talking to their other colleagues then helping a customers (sorry if you work in New Look but like I said this is just my experience in the few New Looks I visited regularly) Though having said this it doesn't really bother me as I like to be left alone when I shop and don't really like being badgered by people so I guess it is actually why I LIKE shopping in New Look but i though I mention it as everyone expects something different from their shopping experience I guess it just depends on the individual.
New Look also do a 10% student discount which is also really handy and about 4 times a year it gets increased to 20% for a short period of time. I also find that a New Look voucher makes a really good present with my friends as it is somewhere we all enjoy and can all afford to shop in.
The only real problem i have ever had is with their smart trouser range, every time I have bought a pair without fail the hem on the bottom leg has come undone within a couple of days which is really irritating, so I stop buying them and now I tent to use New Look as a place to but everyday clothes and when i want something that is better quality i will go elsewhere.
Overall New Look is one of my favorite shop and despite what I have said I do really enjoy shopping in their and would definitely recommend them just be aware the the quality isn't amazing.
