Advantages: Some clothes look cute on the hangers, and on other people

Disadvantages: All the clothes look awful on me, and most are poor quality

Almost every town I have ever been to in the UK has had a New Look. You can usually find one on every high street and at a lot of retail parks.

As reputation, prices and quality go, New Look tends to fall in between the very low budget stores such as Primark, and the medium budget, mainstream high street shops, like Topshop, River Island and Dorothy Perkins.

I am often drawn into New Look by the lure of low prices, huge 'SALE' signs, and nice looking clothes that keep relatively up to date with fashion (though not as up to date with the more high fashion looks, like Topshop). Especially in the summer, they always tend to have cute sun dresses and flowery skirts that look appealing. However, once I have gone inside the shop, picked out a couple of reasonably priced items and progressed with them to the changing rooms, I begin to remember why I really don't like this shop.

Almost everything I put on from here looks awful on me. Tops tend to be made of cheap, flimsy material and you can always see my underwear through them. Trousers are rarely cut well. Most of it makes me look heavier than I am and a lot of it is made from fabric that starts to itch almost straight away.

In the last few years I have only found one thing that looked good on me, a Rolling Stones T-shirt with little jewels making up the band's name. I took it home, wore it, liked it a lot. Then I washed it, and about 50 per cent of the jewels came off, despite me following the washing instructions. Great.

I just can't recommend New Look as the quality is awful. I'd rather spend a bit more at Dorothy Perkins and know that what I'm getting isn't going to die on the first wash.

Summary: I must stop going in here!
