Advantages: Huge range of everything!

Disadvantages: Hard to get hold of a size 6

New Look is great for keeping your wardrobe up to date on a budget. Best of all, a lof of their clothes look good quality, whereas I have found that often clothes in a similar price bracket look what they are - cheap. Don't get me wrong, New Look does some awful clothes too, but this is true of any fashion retailer.

Their shoe department is fantastic - in the big stores they have an amazingly wide choice, I have never seen anything like it. In our local large store an entire mezzanine floor is devoted to shoes of every type imaginable - from flip flops to pumps, stilettos to boots, you name it, if it is footwear you will find it there. The shoes are generally comfortable and when you pay around £10 for a pair of pumps and £20 for a pair of stilettos you are definately getting a great deal. They have a wide range of colours and styles and often copy popular designs from shops like Faith and Moda in Pelle - I have seen a few dead ringers for my Moda shoes in there.

They have a kids' section too, and a few very large stores sell boys' and baby clothes (both sexes) too, although most shops stick to women, girls and occasionally men. It tends to be true that the bigger the branch, the more sectors they cater for with the really huge stores usually situated on retail parks selling them all. The baby clothes are not something I would choose to put my son in. I had a look out of curiosity and they look very cheap and tend to be clothes for mini-men - No I want my baby to look like a baby, thank you very much. The girl-baby department fares better as they do sell pretty little booties and dresses if you strike it lucky with what they have in stock. But based on what I have seen they should stick to what they are good at and give the babywear a miss.

New Look also have a huge lingerie department with loads of different designs, although like most fashion shops that cross into underwear they do not do the larger or less popular larger sizes in bras. The knickers and bras tend to be made of cheap, scratchy material and after trying a few pairs of knickers from there once I will not be buying more - they felt cheap and uncomfortable.

Their handbags all seem to look cheap and tacky, as do their purses but you can often find a few gems in the costume jewellry department which is especially useful if you are just trying to accessorise one outfit so don't want to spend a fortune.

I have always found there to be plenty of changing rooms so I have never had to queue for one even at peak times, and outdie they have a cushioned bench with headphones playing music for your hubby to sit and wait, which is a really novel idea.

New Look offer a 10% student discount (which increases to 20% around Freshers' Week).

They have a plus-size department, and a tall department and both are large and full of different ranges, so they do cater for absolutely everyone. What I hate though is they say they do everything in a size 6 but finding a size 6 in something you like is like panning for gold. So as much as I like New Look I am limited with how much I shop there because I struggle to find things in my size.

That is the only negative thing I have to say though, this is a great shop if you are on a budget. And in all honesty, I am lucky enough to not have to count the pennies and I still buy lots from New Look so that says it all really. I shop there out of choice rather than necessity - I love it!
