Advantages: great range, good value, reasonable quality
Disadvantages: very busy on a Saturday
It wouldn't be in accurate to say that I've had a love affair with New Look when a store opened in my home town when I was about 11 or 12. I absolutely love it, and unlike other love affairs which fizzle out this one has simply grown more passionate as the years have gone by.
They offer a great range of casual, smart casual, dressing up for nights out, smart wear for work, coats/jackets, lingerie, footwear and accessories; there is always something for EVERY occasion. The turn-around of stocks is relatively quick so every few weeks there is new shiny items to drool over. They also stock ranges for men and children.
A pair of jeans cost between £20.00 and £30.00, but can often be picked up in the sale for as little as a fiver. Most of the clothes are reasonably good quality, washing and wearing well. I bought a pair of smart work trousers for £18.00 back in the summer which are still going strong.
One thing I particularly love about New Look is their huge range of footwear. They've always got dozens of different styles often with a choice of colour. Some are made-made and some are leather. I've bought several pairs of boots from them this season, the leather ones are usually a maximum of £60.00 but they have frequent sales and I've picked up quite a few pairs for as little as £15.00 each, reasonably made and again lasting well. For a shoe addict like myself New Look always provides as affordable 'fix'. From heels to flats, to knee highs to pixie boots, New Look has footwear to every fashion look.
As I'm sure you can tell I'm a huge fan of sales and New Look sales are one of the best on the high street. They slash their already reasonable prices to next to nothing, usually better than half price towards the end. The only downside is that they don't apply their 10% student discount to items that are permanently reduced, however they do offer special student promotions throughout the year, they are running a 20% at the moment which is very generous.
The only downside is that the staff can often seem a little frazzled on a Saturday and it's often heaving; so I find that it's often better to pop in on a week day if I want a quieter shopping experience. Having said that I've never found the staff to be rude no matter how busy it is.
I'm a very faithful New Look junkie and I can't see that changing in the near future
Summary: Many a bargain to be had here!
