Advantages: Cheap, wide selection, fashionable clothes

Disadvantages: quality not so great

New Look is a cheap and cheerful high street fashion shop, and I do tend to spend quite a lot of money in there, simply because it's really the only young women's clothes shop in my small town. I used to hate the place, but I think it has improved in the last few years as they've modernised their image.

The shop looks quite appealing from outside, with good window displays showing the latest styles and fashions available instore. The layout inside is good and they have signs up telling you where the different departments are, so you don't have to go wandering around looking if you're after something specific.

The changing room are fairly spacious and usually kept clean and tidy. They have ample space for hanging both the garments you want to try on and your own clothes, so you don't have to leave anything on the floor as you do in some other shops. There's usually a member of staff attending the changing rooms, who will give you a tag when you go in, and take any unwanted items from you as you leave. They're also usually helpful and if you want to try a different size they'll run and fetch it for you.

The clothes are generally what is considered the height of fashion, with new styles coming in all the time to reflect the changing fashions. They have everything from basic t-shirts, vest tops etc, to work clothes, to party outfits. They also cater for men, and teens, and have a pretty large accessories section.

The quality of the clothes varies very much from item to item, but overall I'd definitely say it is throwaway fashion - affordable but not long-lasting. A lot of pieces I've bought from there have faded/lost their shape/shrunk/fallen apart at the seams after a few wears/washes, while a few pieces have lasted and lasted.

The prices are pretty much what I would expect to pay for this quality of clothing. You can get tops from as little as £3 going up to about £40 for the most expensive, and trousers/jeans from as little as £10 and going up to around £30.

The service from the staff can be both fantastic and terrible, it just depends on the staff. Some of them are really friendly and polite and will do all they can to help you, and others seem completely disinterested and can be quite rude.

Overall I do think it is a good place to shop for clothes if you're keen to keep down your costs, but I wouldn't shop there for anything special or anything I really needed to last.

Summary: A cheap and cheerful place to shop

Definitely throwaway fashion- in line with primark and such.

Not my scene I'm afraid, but I agree it is "throwaway fashion" and some people like it.

My sister calls them Poo Look, which always makes me laugh.
