Advantages: Am in love with the shoes!
Disadvantages: workwear and underwear not up to standard of rest of shop
New Look - pretty much most girls will be familiar with this chain, but did you know that they opened their first store in 1969? Unbelievable I could have sworn the only started in the 1990s - shows how much I know!
Anyway since the first store in Taunton they have clearly gone from strength to strength and are now widely recognisable and stores can pretty much be found in every town in the UK, and now even as far afield as Russia.
They feature ranges for women, men, teens, kids, maternity, tall and plus size.
When I first started going the clothes were good for basics, priced really cheaply and aimed at young fashion. With the popularity of Primark, perhaps New Look found themselves in jeopardy over their 'cheapest on the high street' position, as it seems like they have upped their game.
It's still great for basics but you can pick up some really cool little pieces, still for reasonable prices. A few designers have lent their names to collections for example Giles Deacon and perhaps less successfully, Lily Allen. They also have several boutique brands.
I think the range of jeans are fantastic and I recently bought some amazing skinnies for a bargain £25! Also great for vest tops and tees but the main reason I am writing this review is for their shoes. New Look is the first place I look for shoes as they are hot on new designs and super cheap. The choice is vast too - my local store which is over two floors, has pretty much 2/3rds dedicated to shoes which range from flats, sandals, wedges, super high heels and boots. I always buy heels from here and have never paid over £25, sometimes even less if they are in the sale.
Many of their shoes are leather too and honestly do not look cheap (I detest cheap looking shoes). I am a total shoe junkie and like to dress up an outfit with my shoes so I like a good variety in my wardrobe. At £25 and under I can afford it!
Along with their strong presence on the high street, they have an excellent website too. I have used it and delivery is quick and reliable.
The website is laid out really well and divided into logical sections which makes it easy to navigate and browse the clothes.
The only thing I think they could do with improving is their workwear range - its cheap but it looks it. Also their underwear is really nothing to write home about in my opinion. Good jewellery section though.
All in all, it kicks the butt of most other high street shops for shoes, and that's good enough for me!
Summary: Great for basics, shoes and jeans. And did I mention shoes?!!
