Advantages: good prices and quality
Disadvantages: gets too cramped with the layout, don't tend to give out refunds on jewellery or watches.
I don't really enjoy shopping for clothes. I prefer going down the whole online version. This is probably largely down to my personality however some fashion shops do play a varied part in my dislike of it. Naturally it being New Look the prices are very reasonable and unlike other shops which might sell cheap products they don't sacrifice the quality of their items because of the low cost.
They always have a wide variety of clothing, shoes, jeans, trousers, skirts, coats. Pretty much anything you'd require. They also appear to keep up with the latest fashions so it's safe to say you will be wearing reasonably up to date clothing if you're into that kind of thing.
New Look also offer decent enough sales and always have racks of clothes which are under the £5- £10 amount. In these cases most of the time it's stock which hasn't sold very well. But plain coloured tops or jeans crop up from time to time which are always handy if you're just around the house sort of thing.
They also sell shoes, jewellery and bags which are all of good quality and price. When I do venture into the shops these tend to be the sections which I head to first. The shoes are all of good quality although you're more likely to find heels or boots rather than trainers or flat type foot wear. Likewise with their jewellery you get a wide range of necklaces or bracelets but less with the earrings and rings. You can also buy watches for under £12 which will last you for ages without getting tatty.
Now to the problems I find with New Look. I have two New Looks which I could make it to. One in South Gloucestershire and the other in Bristol. In both cases the shop is filled with racks and racks of clothing tightly placed together. You can't walk around the place looking at what's on offer without worrying that you're going to knock at item off of its railing.
You also do not have much movement when walking about because of this and its likely that you'll have to retrace your steps when another person is walking towards you as there is only enough room to walk in a single line.
I also find that refunds are very difficult to come by. My nightmare situation when going shopping is the fact that I might have to return something. Especially when the younger looking people who are on the till who because of my personality terrify me! It isn't the clothes that's the problem it's their other items. Like jewellery or watches.
On a few occassions and I don't like to admit this but I have been given items as gifts which I know I won't wear. Like a lot of people who hand out presents a receipt usually comes along with it just in case. For some reason in both of my branches will not accept it.
It does also tend to get quite busy which is why I always go reasonably early in the morning when there isn't too many crowds bustling about. Aside from all of this New Look is quite a good shop and it isn't a surprise that it's been around since 1969. Over the years it keeps itself up to date and provides good prices for those who can't always afford to go over the top with their purchases.
Worth a trip from time to time although if you're like me you can always go to their website www.newlook.co.uk which provide the same clothes, although they don't always have the size you want in stock.
