Advantages: Wide range, cheap, stock changes often

Disadvantages: Moody sales assistants! Poor quality

New Look are a major retailer of women's fashion - their main market seems to be girls between 14 and 22, but there are also items that more mature ladies might wear, as well as maternity wear, petite, Inspire for bigger sizes and childrens wear (including school uniform!).

They are situated towards the bottom of the high street price range, although not as cheap as somewhere like Primark - trousers might cost £15-30 and a top anywhere from £3 to £30. For basic items such as tshirts, there is a massive range of different styles and colours, which makes it a useful shop for wardrobe staples.

There are also many items which are very fashion-based, and although you can find some good stuff if you hunt for it, my personal taste is for slightly less garish, young items! The good thing about this though is that for young girls with limited cash to spend, there is always the latest trend on sale at a bargain price.

I am a particular fan of New Look shoes - this range used to be very cheaply made and mostly synthetic and I would never have bought it, yet over the last couple of years New Look has started to stock more leather shoes, and their flat almond-toe ballet slippers are my absolute favourites for work now. I also can't help myself buying loads of brightly coloured patent courts, as they always seem to be reduced, often as low as £7.

Mostly, however, you get what you pay for, and I have had very few clothes from this store that haven't "died" after several washes. They are not always the best quality, and you will often find loose threads etc or buttons that have barely been sewn on at all!

My biggest gripe with New Look is their lack of staff training. At least I assume that that is the problem and that they don't just employ moody cows who can't speak!! It really annoys me when I as the customer am the only person who talks through the course of a transaction - although every now and then you will get an assistant (maybe a manager) who will do her utmost to get you to sign up to the New Look store card - I hate credit, and I hate saying no three times and being ignored!

All in all, New Look has its uses - just be choosy about what you buy, and don't expect a warm glow as you leave the store!

Summary: Worth a look

I think it's a "Bad shop, Bad service" most of the clothes there are so tacky, although I must admit the shoes there are quite nice and very cheap!
