Advantages: prices, good size range

Disadvantages: take time hunting the bargins out

Here are a few of my tips on how to shop in New Look.

There are two things that you will need.

Time
Patience

But one thing you don’t need is a lot of money.
I am a single parent on the fairly tight budget so wherever I can get more for less suits me just fine.

My number one rule is never buy anything in there at full price unless you really want it and think it is going to be popular, as almost every single item ends up in the sale within weeks.

I know a lot of people are not impressed by the quality of some items. I have found that the ones I have bought were fine. And the rest were quite adequate for what I call a holiday wardrobe and at their prices you can wear them on holiday then throw them away.

Some examples: -

A blouse. Original price £14.99 in the sale £3.00

A gypsy style blouse, which was all the rage this year. (It ended up in the sale while it was still in fashion) Original price £19.99 in the sale for £5.00

A pair of trouser (I take a 34” inside leg and find they end up in the sale all the time. Original price £15.00 in the sale £7.50.

A suede waistcoat Original price £27.99 in the sale £10.00

Another waistcoat that matched a suit I already have. Original price £17.99 in the sale £5.00

A handbag Original price £8.00 in the sale £3.00

Shoes Original price £19.99 in the sale £5.00. I bought 8 pairs. 8 I hear you cry. (Typical woman I can hear the men cry). But I work in a job where I am on my feet all day and go through shoes at a very fast rate. I paid £40.00 for them all, saving £119.92 against the full price.

And just this week some suede/leather boots that I had been waiting to go into the sale. Original price £35.99. I got them this week for £10.00. They had actually been reduced to £15.00 but they were the last pair and someone had already tried them on and put a small mark (practically invisi
ble) on the heel. So I asked if they could do anything for me, they reduced them to £10.

Never be afraid to ask for a discount if things are damaged. Loose button, button missing (most have a spare inside anyway) etc. things like this only take two minutes to fix, but if you can get money off then why not!

The need for time and patience is because you may have to make several trips, until what you want ends up reduced. My Mum and I go shopping more or less every week and always make a point of going to New Look. I have my eye on one or two things at the moment and I’m just biding my time.

With regards to the shoes I find that unlike a lots of places they a quite big fittings, I take a size 8 and on the bigger end at that, and I find their shoes fit well.

I seem to go through phases of buying a few nice things form New Look then not finding anything I like for ages... Best buy from there was a suit - trousers and jacket only £25! It's not the best quality suit, but it's certainly good enough for wearing regularly at work and looks fine.
