Advantages: Clothes at knockdown prices that actually FIT me
Disadvantages: None
I am small. It's not from dieting (come on, look at my food reviews, do you think I've ever SEEN a diet?) It's just genetic oddity. In height I'm just over 5'1, in clothes sizes I swing between at 8 and a 10. Last year, for one horrible period, I was a size six due to peritonitis (being on a drip for a week? Not so good for keeping weight on).
Being tiny doesn't always make finding clothes easy. Trouser legs are too long, it's sometimes hard to find anything with a small enough waist. Often, I end up running to my great aunt the dressmaker to ask her to take something in.
Next Clearance Outlets however seem almost DESIGNED for Laura-shaped-people. I'm not sure if it's because they can't sell clothes in my size, but I can often find clothes in there that are of excellent quality and fit PERFECTLY for silly cheap prices. Last year I found a full suit - jacket and trousers - for £25. That they FIT delighted me even more than the price - I was going to a wedding, and suit trousers are just not easy to find in size 6.
There are also some great bargains to be found for people of more normal proportions. I found a fake leather jacket there once for £15 - looked great, and a year later she still hasn't worn it out.
If you're near a Next Clearance Outlet it's well worth stepping in and taking a look - especially if you're another runt. Things might be cheaper than you think!
Summary: Clothes that fit, and of decent quality

- 07/05/08 I have to admit that I rarely find anything in the outlets, but I'm glad you're managing to pick up such fantastic bargains :) |
