Advantages: The sales and childrens clothing
Disadvantages: Are their any? At a push the queues at the sales.
I am a massive Next fan - infact I think I deserve shares in the company for the amount I spend!
I love how the shops are laid out - as of yet I have not had to go upstairs to the childrens section which is great with a pushchair. I always find the staff really helpful and happy in their work - they can never do too much for you. If I struggle to find an item in my sizing they are always happy to ring around to find one local.
I also collect/return my directory orders to the store and even when I have had over 20 items to return the staff have never bat an eyelid and always chat whilst they do the return.
Now for the clothing.
Starting with the womens clothing. They have a great selection of items for any occasion. My favourite item of clothing is the jeans in here and think they are a great price ranging from just under £20 upwards. To be honest I tend to stick with those that are £20 and they last me ages as the wash and wear really well. I also always come here around christmas when looking for my party season outfits as they do some really nice things.
One thing I do find with next clothing is the sizing sometimes differs. I can buy a pair of jeans in one size but a different style may come up smaller or bigger!
If you like shoes, bags and accessories, Next have a large selection. The shoes are almost always in fashion and comfortable and they even do half sizes in some shoes! They do a shoe for any occasion and to match most outfits!
Now for mens clothing - as sometimes my husband is lucky enough to get a treat!
I tend to buy my husbands shirts and ties from Next for work. The shirts in particular are always great quality and although not the cheapest they are well worth the money especially if you can buy in a two pack. They don't just do plain boring shirts either as they often have bright colour or funky designs. My local next display all the shirts in lovely cubby holes, in colour order and size order making it easy to shop. They also have a large range of shirts and ties on display so that you can easily match them up. For anyone like me that finds Ironing shirts a chore then these shirts hardly need any ironing!
My children are Next children and I buy most things from here and have done since they were babies.
I love the childrens clothing as it washes so well - perfect when kids can make such a mess. Some of the clothing is expensive but at the same time alot of it is lower priced and really great value. As an example for my 2 year old son a pair of cord trousers - £7.00 - can't complain for the quality. I have even purchased their basic jeans which are priced at between £4 - £5 they don't look cheap and are great quality and wash really well, at that price they can be worn for in the garden!
The childrens clothing is always laid out well and unlike most stores they have a wide selection of both girls and boys.
My only gripe with Next is once my daugther reached 5. The clothes that are now in the section she needs range from 3 to 16. Why would I want to dress my 5 year old as a 16 year old, and to be fair most of the clothing is aimed at the older girls. I wish they would extend their range from 3 months up 7/8 instead of stopping at 5.
Best of all for the avid shopper and Next fan going to the sale is well worth it and a great way of getting great quality but spending half the amount! Ok so you need to be their for 5am but from my experience you get so many bargains especially for the children (although you have to go their first as they move quick). I have been known to stock up for 12 months clothing for the children. They do also have alot of womens clothing, shoes and accessories available but you do have to sometimes hunt. The only two downsides to the Sale (other than it being in the middle of the night) is the pushing and shoving - you really have to stand your ground but does not make for a pleasant experience, and the tills people buy so much that you can sometimes end up in a queue for an hour or more.
A little tip just incase you have not been to the Sales before but are considering going, especially for childrens wear. Grab a couple of bags as you go in and everything in your childs size that you like the look of grab and bag - then once finished find a corner to sift through and decide what you wish to keep. I promise if you stand wondering everything else will be gone.
So there you have it! Yes I am that sad that I sound like a walking advert for Next!
Summary: Whatever the occasion Next more often than not have something suitable.
