Advantages: Helpful photographers
Disadvantages: Extremely expensive!!!!!, Poor customer services, They own copyright
Olan Mills may sound like a great idea at first – only £23.95 for 4 sittings for your child and one free photo per session. But have a closer look at what you are being offered. A simple 10x8 print costs £20 when an e-print will cost you only £2.50. They offer you £380 (their price) of photos for £70 but they could be printed off a lot cheaper than that elsewhere. And you don’t own the copyright so you cannot get other cheaper professional prints made and to get back the copyright (at their discretion) it costs £10 per photo. After our first session we were told the photos had not come out so we had to go back for another session only to find that the original photos were fine – it was just one of the poses was not as good as the other 2 and their aim is to get 3 good ones so they can spin their ‘Triple Pack for £70’ offer. So be warned you pay your money for cheap photo sessions but as nothing is free in this world you have to pay heavily for the prints. Our daughter’s nursery photos were a lot cheaper, just as nice and when we asked we were given back the copyright at no cost so we could get prints, mugs and mouse-mats made and an e-printing company. While the photographers were nice, the shop assistants were very dim and the whole experience has been a little disappointing.

- 29/01/03 I think it depends on your local branch sales team, as our Olan Mills is also hell bent on selling you packages, and thier single prints actually worked out more expensive than a local , ' unbranded ' photography firm. Depends on what offers they are running I think. |

- 29/01/03 Same as Nikki really Ive had some beautiful portraits done of my family and it was really quite reasonable. You should maybe wait til they have an offer on and then go for your sitting.
The quality of the photos are beautiful and really no more expensive than anywhere else in my experience.
