Sheffield Orchard Square Shopping CentreNewest Review: ... of the High Street seems far away! Orchard Square, which is in the middle of Sheffield's High Street, is a small shopping area (i wouldn't call it a shopping centre!) that has a lovely, calm feel to it. The sqaure is tucked away from the rest of the High Street and so the hustle and bustle of the High Street seems far away! You have got some great shops in the square, including TK Max, Waterstones, Evans and the Museum pub, which is always a good place to stop, and on a nice day sit out in the square with a drink, watching the world go by. I think it's a bit much to call Orchard Square a "shopping centre". For anyone who's not been before, Orchard Square is a collection of around half a dozen shops that's set slightly back from Sheffield's main shopping area, Fargate. Shops at Orchard Square include (at the time of writing, when shops are dropping like flies due to the recession): River Island, Schuh, The Body Shop and TK Maxx. Hardly quality stores that will set the pulses racing, are they? Oh, wait, there's a Waterstones as well! One thing I will say about Orchard Square is that it is one of the nicer areas of the city centre. It's clean, tidy and attracts a much nicer ... Read the complete review

Looking at Orchard Square today its hard to imagine that this was once Sheffield's flagship shopping centre. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with this place its just that more than two decades on it now looks pretty much like hundreds of other generic indoor shopping centres and if one arrived blindfold it would be difficult to determine immediately in which city, in which part of the world one was. That is unless you just happened to be stood in the open air courtyard under its clock tower. So having described Orchard Square as nondescript I now retract this statement a little by adding that it has the most amazing clock tower as it focal ... Read the complete review

Orchard square is a little shopping area in the middle of the city centre. It is situated on the top of fargate and plenty of buses stop just outside. As you walk into the square you get a spacious feeling. There are two ways to get into the square one is via a walkway from the top of fargate and the other is via leopold street. The best feature of orchard square is the clock which has two animated figures which come into life when the clock strikes on the hour. The main shop you will notice as you walk into the square is tk max. This has recently been renovated and is now bigger then it previously was. The other outlets that I can ... I sometimes find shopping a bit of a stressful experience. I do enjoy Sheffield city centre in general but Orchard Square is like a little haven. When you walk into it, it's like taken a breath of fresh air. You suddenly do not feel like you're in the city centre. They've managed to combine bothe modern and traditional. There's a lovely Swiss-style clock with 2 characters appearing when the bells ring. I always find it very charming and can't wait to show it to my little boy. Apart from 2 shoe shops, a Subway shop, a trendy hairdresser's, the Sheffield Wednesday shop, Waterstone's and a nice pub, Orchard Square also has one of my ... Read the complete review
