Advantages: every brand there including their Flagships

Disadvantages: Too busy at times

Oxford Street is based in the heart of Central London. It is easily accessable; one end is Oxford Circus tube which is on the Bakerloo, Central and Victoria line (which is 3 stops from Kings Cross!) and the other end is Marble Arch which is on the Central tube line and close to Baker Street. It has all the major names; everything from the three storey Topshop Flagship to Selfridges to Marks and Spencers Flagship to a House of Fraser and lots of smaller well known brands. Although it must only be a mile or so long you could spend a looong time shopping here! There are not really any independant or boutique shops, probably because the rents are high - these are more towards TCR tube past Oxofrd Circus or in Spitalfields in East London. The only down point i find is that the volume of people can be overwhelming and as a lot of people have not been there before the pace of walking can be slow; as the pavements arent really wide enough for demand this can be frustrating! The plus point however is that the majority of shops are open until about 9pm so theres always the option to shop late at night when it is a bit quieter! Always a winner, dont go to London without a visit.

Summary: Visit!
