Peacocks seems to have gone from run-of-the-mill to innovative in the last few years and I am always surprised by how good their sense of fashion is, especially as the prices are so reasonable.

I have always shopped there for children's clothing and underwear for the whole family but for years I didn't bother looking at the women's fashions because they seemed so dull. It's a different story these days. The windows in our local branch always look very exciting and the fashions are bang up-to-the-minute. I have bought several items there in recent months, including a very trendy handbag for only £7, some 'posh' shoes and lots of jewellery.

I love all the underwear except the bras. I have yet to find one that fits correctly but that may just be me! The knickers are incredible value for money and there are loads of different designs to choose from. They also do some beautiful underwear sets that make lovely presents.

Talking about presents, at Christmas time they stock a huge selection of very useful gifts which cost very little. I always buy quite a few things - they even have good gadget ideas for men. One year I bought a set of space-age guns that fired little coloured discs. The set contained two silver-coloured guns and about forty discs. You just load the gun up and fire them; my sons and husband were occupied for days with these guns and had a lot of fun! The whole set only cost £8 - it came in good packaging and was exceptional value for money.

I also love the children's clothes; whenever a new baby is born into the family, Peacock's is the first place I go to buy a gift because the clothes are very good value. I bought a beautiful summer dress for a one-year old baby that looked as if it cost three times as much as the £5 I paid for it. They have a great choice for older children, too, and I often buy for my grandchildren. They always have sale rails that are full of bargains with some items knocked down to just a couple of pounds.

Peacock's even have a range of pet items available at Christmas - last year I bought my son's new kitten a Christmas hat. He looked so cute in it that one of the photos they took will be this year's Christmas card.

The jewellery section is also well worth checking out; I have bought several necklaces and pairs of earrings both for myself and as gifts and I have always been very impressed with the quality.

Peacock's change their stock quite often throughout the year and everything they sell is very 'on-trend'. Even their menswear range is very good nowadays, especially the choice of underwear and, at Christmas, they have a brilliant range of inexpensive novelty socks and boxers which are ideal if you are stuck for gift ideas.

All in all, I throughly recommend Peacock's especially if you have a growing family. You will find many bargains and won't be disappointed with the quality. Should you buy something you are not happy with, they have a very good refund policy.
