Advantages: You will find everything you need here
Disadvantages: Not always the best value
Pets At Home is probably the UK's most well known pet store. They sell a whole range of food, accessories and equipment for all different pets. I find their prices to be reasonable, better than the smaller pet shops that are around but some of the food and treats aren't as cheap as in a supermarket.
However, they do sell things that you just won't find in your supermarket, like hutches, cages, fish tanks and even little houses for your smaller animals (my guinea pig loves his log cabin!). The hutches there are well made and I would recommend getting one from Pets At Home rather than a website. The one I bought from the internet lasted a few months during the summer before my rabbit and guinea pig had chewed it all to bits and it was nearly falling apart. However, the one I got from Pets At Home has lasted for nearly 2 years and is still going strong.
As well as food and accessories, the store also sells pets. In my local one I have seen fish, hamsters, rats, degus, chinchillas, guinea pigs, rabbits and even stick insects. I have also noticed that they have just started to advertise animals that need to be adopted. These included cats and dogs, so if you are looking for a pet then Pets At Home would be a good place to start.
My local Pets At Home also has a vets practice called Companion Care located within the shop which is very handy, although their prices are quite high and they always try to get me to have dental work done on my cat whenever I go there (to the value of £500!!) so it might be worth going to another vets.
Pets At Home will almost certainly supply anything you need for any pet that you own. It's a great shop just to look around in too as there are all of those cute animals.
Summary: Go there for specific things but go to a supermarket for cheaper food.
