Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Atrocious customer services, particularly from the repairs centre

I have had 2 extremely stressful encounters with Phones 4U over the past few months. On the first occasion, my daughter had purchased an LG Chocoloate phone from the internet site. It stopped working after about 6 months and had to be sent away for repair. I heard nothing for over 2 weeks, then decided to ring to find out what was going on. They told me that the phone needed a new base board costing £45 and that it had had physical damage. I totally rejected their claim and wrote a letter, stating that a brand new LG phone had just been reduced in Argos and could be purchased for less than the price of the repair! After my letter, they repaired it for free and returned it.

In November 2007 I purchased a Sony Ericsson W580i pink phone from the White Rose Centre shop for my other daughter's Christmas present. It worked for about 2 weeks then froze up and wouldn't even turn on. I returned it to the store but they refused to give me a replacement because it was out of the '28 day' period. It therefore had to be sent away for repair. I explained the troubles I'd had the previous time and was assured the same thing would not happen again. 2 weeks later, I'd heard nothing. I phoned the repairs centre who told me that the phone was 'beyond economical repair' due to an 'unauthorised repair' and 'physical damage.' I pointed out that the phone had been returned in a 'new' condition but this did not seem to have any effect. I was supposed to be grateful that they were going to return my broken phone for free, instead of having to pay £17.63. I explained that I couldn't afford to simply write off the £100 that I'd paid for the phone and that my daughter remained disappointed about her lack of Christmas present. I informed them that I would speak to Trading Standards, who were a lot more helpful. With their advice, I have just posted a letter this week which highlights my rights under the sale of goods act. I am currently waiting for a reply - will keep you posted! I cannot believe the rudeness, lack of concern and unflexibility of the repairs centre staff - their staff are the worst customer service people I've ever come across and I will definitely not be using Phones 4U again.

Summary: DON'T GO THERE - SOMETHING HAS GOT TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS COMPANY!

hmmmm i can understand your anger with Phones4u however this issue seems to be with the repair center that you are dealing with and not Phones4u, if you should be angry with anybody it should be Sony Ericcson who manufactured the bloody thing lol peace.....
