Advantages: brand names and good quality products
Disadvantages: It was very busy
Unfortunately i dont have a pound land near me, in fact there is not one in the same county as me. But on a recent shopping trip to a much larger city i discovered a poundland tucked up a back street and what a find it was.
I know that a lot of people look down at pound shops and a lot of them do sell cheap rubbish that cant sell any where else but on entering this poundland i was very vbery suprised.
The biggest thing to jump out at me was the fact that 90% of the product i recognised as high street and well known brand names, so definatly knew what i was getting for my money. For example Nurofen for children 10 sachets £1 usually in the highstreet i pay anywhere between £2 and "4 depending where. Brands such as nivea, kodak and cadbury's were all there and litterally every item was a pound.
The variety of items is vast from condoms to rechargable batteries and from sweets to halloween masks!
The packaging was fine so it obviously is not damaged goods and the dates were fine on perishables. I managed to stock up on lots for the kids stockings such as colouring books and pens and also on halloween items for our up and coming party. I didnt know you could spend £30 in a pound shop but to be honest i could have spent more.
The only down side was the queue, i litterally walked onto the end of the queue as i entered the shop but looking around i could see why it was sooo busy. On the plus side they had lots of tills open and the queue got through quite quickly and they took debit and credit cards.
I will definatly be visiting agin when i go to the city to stock up before xmas!
Summary: I wish i had one closer i never new they sold high street products.
