Advantages: very little money goes a long long way here

Disadvantages: have to get the things you spot when you see them as there is no guarantee they will be there later

Poundshops in general
Poundland is one of my favorite shops in scotland.
Yes before you say it I live in scotland and have done for the past three years and maybe the scottish way of life is rubbing off on me just a little, but I happen to agree with most of them. Such a lovely bunch of people.
Anyway back to Poundland I do tend to stray off the track a little these days, must be having to live a frugle life style that does it. Anyway what better way to do this than by visiting our local pound shops, once inside there is a veritable cornucopia of goodies to tempt you to part with your hard earned pound coins. Because that is all the vast majority of good will cost you per item some even come in twos. So that makes 50p an item.
These goodies range from the lowely birthday card to the screwdriver, from the kitchen scrubber to the plastic containers. From the latest novels to christmas baubles and so on and so on. You want it you could probably find it in these lovely shops.
One word of warning to you though if you see it there one day get it then because it may well have gone by the time you go back as stock changes around that often, so get it when you see it if you want it that badly. I am always going in to mouch around you can never tell what you may find useful in there. They always have things like soap liquid for the washing up and cleaning products various. They always have doggie treats and hardware items of various things but everything else is subject to change and availability.
You may think for a pound the items would be rubbish I for one can vouch for these items as reasonably good especially as don't forget they are only a pound in good cash money.
They last long enough for you to get good use out of them. I recently bought a metal strainer from this establishment and it is the best one I have ever purchased beeting the more expensive variety I had previously purchased. No rusting just good value.
Beside this you can browse around the friendly shop for as long as you like without being pestered by overhelpful staff, and you get a feel for the old style market stalls which we once had.
OK now I am showing my age.
I still remember things like the brazier full of coal with chestnuts cooking on the tops. Sorry.
I hope this little trip into poundland gives you the necessary push to get you in there too as we need this type of shop to exist in these times of recession.
Happy hunting.

Summary: a good shop to browse in and get the odd bargains
