Advantages: Savings on Brands

Disadvantages: Easy to Overspend

Poundland is, as it's name suggests, another one of those "everything for a pound" stores and the everything ranges from homeware, tools, cards, food & drink, health & beauty products, pet care, stationery, batteries, DIY & Hobby, clothing and others. You will find all this stuff on packed shelves accessed via narrow aisles; there is just so much stuff that it all metamorphosis's into a confusing mass. It is reputed they have over 3000 lines available at 210 stores nationwide and I for one will not dispute that!
The appeal of Poundland is that it's only a pound so little or no guilt associated is with buying; it must be a bargain after all. Once you are in there it is so easy to see things you need that you didn't know you needed until you saw it, if you know what I mean. You end up buying because of price rather than need. And have you got a bargain? You may well have, especially if you have done your homework and know price for a given quantity that may be available elsewhere. I have been caught out with what appeared a bargain but when I checked my local supermarket found it was maybe a different package size so was no bargain! Of course there are bargains, the battery packs at a pound are hard to beat even though I have suspected that they are not the same quality as comparable to other outlets charging two or three times the price. However I have had no cause for complaint with performance or life of any batteries I purchased.
In these economic times Poundland report an increase in business coming, in particular, from people who formally didn't frequent their stores; 20% more from the AB socio-economic group (whoever they may be). At a pound a go obviously they are good for a bargain or two, just be careful you are not misled. You can't really miss them with their big bold sign "Yes! Everything's a £1"

Summary: Worth Looking for the True Bargains
