Advantages: Some great buys at only £1.

Disadvantages: After a small useless shop, you can end up spending £15-20 without realising!

Many years ago Poundland or any pound shop for a dream for me. I was young and knew whenever I could find this shop with whoever I was with, I could get cheap cheap toys! it was perfect.

As I grew older I noticed the big bottles of drink and big bags of sweets, for when I would be hanging around in town with friends in the summer, or going to the cinema. Then as time grew again more daily things such as toiletries to be a very good price, and even DIY equipment.

The main problem I faced however was the nearest being miles and miles away. When one was opened in my local town however I couldnt of been mroe happier. Every weekend it would be a shop I would go in, and fill up a basket with bargain after bargain. Although mostly foreign, it has a great range of products. From top Schwarzerkopf hair dyes which RRP at £5, to Colgate toothbrushes and pastes. Theres all kind of medicals, even arm, ankle and leg supports which can even retail upto £15 in some places.
Theres a range of DVDS, Books, and even if someone needs a lighter, £1 for a pack of 10 is always a bargain compared to the local SPAR charging 70p each!

So many great bargains all for a pound, you never even get any useless change to bulk up your wallet or purse! So what can surely be the downside?

The downside is that everythings a pound. You see a bargain, put it in your basket, then another, and another. Eventually you have what you think saved tonnes of money, go upto the till and it comes to £15. You then realise you didnt even plan on buying anything when you went in originally. The idea of everything being a pound also makes you think it must be a good price!

A friend of mine, near christmas time saw a bag of chocolate coins to hang on a tree and grabbed 4 packets. They said "oh my god its only a pound each!". It wasnt until a friend said 'well its 4 for a £1 down the road?' that it makes you realise not everythings a good price being a pound.

If its for a small spend however, its defiantely a shop to go to!

Summary: Run out of toothpaste? Deodrant? Maybe want a 2l bottle of lucozade? Maybe a hammer? £1!!
