Advantages: some things are ok

Disadvantages: some rubbish

Everybody seems to think that Poundland is such good value but it is always a good deal.

Things like brand name soap and toothpaste in our local branch tend to be more expensive bought in Poundland. I bought some Imperial Leather soap at 2 for £2. That 's 36p in Wilkinsons.

I bought a spray on polish that turned out to be cheaper in Tesco.

Some other things are seconds and just total rubbish. They sell a lot of low quality stuff as well as a few decoent brands of stuff.

For just £1 you can buy any number of cheap, tacky ornaments, toys that last five minutes or cheap kids clothes that will fall to bits or shrink in the wash.

People think it must be cheap if its only £1 a time. It's psychological! Think before you pick things up in one of these stores. They rely on the fact that you will walk round and pick things up without giving it much thought just because it is all £1.

Hiya good op but our pound shop is not to bad, I have bought many a item there and it is still being used now. Also before buying check the saftely label for the kite mark or other symbol!.
However I have been to others and they do not seem that good so maybe we are lucky :)

Thanks

Thanks for the warning. I must admit I had noticed that the prices weren't quite what they seemed! Susan
