Advantages: good clothes, cheap prices, helpful staff
Disadvantages: small staff force means it can be untidy, you will stop paying more for clothes (not sure if this is a dis or not?), you will start complaining at designer prices!
I Love Primark!
There is not really a great deal else to say but I suppose I need to say something?!?!
Well here goes, I come originally from a place called Hull in E.Yorkshire (don’t worry if you
don’t know where that is, noone ever does) and I have never shopped in a Primark unitl I
moved to London two years ago.
It was a revolution! I don’t know if we have these shops up north but we should! They are
amazing, good clothes at extremely low prices.
I have probably spent around a grand in there in two years but I have got the biggest
wardrobe in the history of the world and enough shoes to shadow Imelda Marcos. I love
clothes, I make them myself, I buy second hand and I love to make one offs and Primark is
the place to go for me.
Because the clothes are so cheap I can cut them up, mess about with them and generally
do my own thing without having to worry that I may ruin an expensive item. Of course all
my creations are amazing (ahem) but when it does go wrong you can just give it up and not
have to worry that you have wasted money.
T-shirts generally retail at £3, Skirts with ‘leather’ belts at around £10 and Jeans at around
£10-£15.
I like the accessories especially, they do amazing brooches and hair pieces starting at £1,
good for hoarders like me and brilliant if you have children who like to dress up because
they can wear this stuff to death and it won’t matter.
They also do fantastic underwear and sleepwear, it doesn’t last amazingly well (usually a
pair of pants lasts about 3 months, at two washes a week) but at £1.50 a pair who cares?!?!
The only down side is that I now find myself comparing more expensive shops to Primark. I
live in quite a privileged part of London and walking from designer shops remarking ‘I can
get that for a tenner in Primark’ doesn’t do me many favours!
Also I am starting to annoy people by telling them they could get their clothes at cheaper
prices, which many people do appreciate but not when they are already wearing the product
in question! Especially as Primark do some fab belts, identical to River Islands in everything
but price.
Usually shops sell these chunky belts with massive buckles for around £30 but you can pick
them in Primark with a skirt for around £10 or by themselves for around £5. Absolute
bargain!
Anyone considering a shopping trip anytime soon should pay Primark a visit.
Don’t be put off if at first it seems a little messy or disorganised, they obviously have to
save somewhere and generally all the staff are manning the tills. Have a look around and
you will be amazed.
I have not included mens/childrens wear in this review because I am not familiar with it but
I am sure it is just as good as the women’s wear so please do go and have a look, you
might be pleasantly surprised.

- 06/05/05 There is one in Grimsby. Enough said. Can't wait til one turns up in Hull (as the rumours suggest they may well be). Good review, loads of enthusiasm. :-)

- 25/02/05 I love picking up bargains from Primark. I've never thought about altering their clothes though - I'll have to give it a go!
