Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: The possibility of child labour
Primark is a retailer of clothes and fashion accessories. They offer incredibly cheap prices and over years have improved the quality and design of their range of products.
I visit Primark at least once a month, whether it is to buy a small item, like a bra, or whether I go for something like a dress, I always bring something back home.
The shop I visit is always packed, at least on Saturday, which is the day when I can go shopping. If I need to try on something, I normally have to wait for a cubicle in the changing rooms to become available, some time there are up to 4-5 people in front of me. Some time I find the distribution of items a bit messy, jeans, for example, are tossed in a large box and are not always neatly folded.
However, it is really the rock bottom prices and the fact that the quality is more or less there, that make me a regular at Primark.
Finally, I think it is fair to address an ethical issue. Clearly there is cheap labour behind these clothes. Primark have in the past come out to defend themselves from allegations that they use child labour. Although the factories which supplied Primark were investigated and in the end no evidence of child labour was found, it is still possible that somewhere down the line child labour exists (at least in the production of raw materials used for the fabrics) I do not think it is easy to judge here, and I personally do not want to judge, but I thought it was fair to mention this issue.
Summary: Surely cheap
