Advantages: Very low prices for reasonable quality. Does try to follow the season's latest trends.
Disadvantages: Cuttings and fittings are not quite as good as the other brands.
I always marvel at the prices in Primark. Their prices are so (not outrageously though) low that sometimes you wonder either how they manage to make a decent profit, or else the manufacturers are really paid next to nothing - I guess, it is also a case of the countries in where the clothes are manufactured - the cost of labour is so low it makes me realise how lucky and fortunate we are in the UK.
Our nearest Primark funnily enough is about 30 miles away from us, so unless we're in town for other things we would not be shopping there.
When you enter the store, it is almost like a very large version of a huge indoor market stall as everything is folded and stacked in piles - very different to other clothes shop that like to show off their designs on a mannequin. I guess this gives room for more stock to be available to the customers, although it seems more imperative that they need to make sure they have 'enough' out because the many times I have been there it is always bustling and packed with customers.
Primark is certainly popular, and though they have cheap prices they are by no means 'cheap'. The quality is more than the reasonable standard expected of those prices and if not, even more...
They are pretty serious with their business too, on one of my visits a young branch manager was marching around trying to figure to a strategy to bump up sales even more - identify the bestsellers - I ended up having one of his ordered staff attempting to follow me around the store to see what I picked off the shelves.
I have often been to get several items costing the price of one item from Top Shop. For example a pack of 7 pairs of plain socks cost only £2, at other shops this would usually be twice as much. Ballet pumps that cost up to £30 at top shop can be bought at Primark for a fiver.
Primark does try hard to follow the latest fashion trends, though it is still a little far off compared to the high street shops in terms of design and style. The cutting can be a little off as well, and I have had my fair share of mis-fit shirts and jackets that were telling me I was the one with the odd shaped body. Important pieces of clothing, I tend not to get there - e.g. work clothes, simply, they don't suit my body type and don't give quite the right fit - but to be very fair, I generally have trouble shopping for clothes that fit properly anyway.
Besides this point, I am usually very happy with the things that I buy from Primark.
A very respectable high street store.

Summary: Reasonable quality for very low prices.
