Advantages: Great value for money and nice styles
Disadvantages: Always really busy and ethical issues?
Primark, or Penneys in Ireland, is a shop I really like. They have 181 stores across the UK and employ over 25,000 people. Primark has really grown in success in the last few years and the company say this is because of their high street locations, competitive prices and focus on their target market.
The best thing about Primark has to be the prices. In the credit crunch era we live in I just can't afford to buy clothes from many high street shops and Primark offer a large range of fashionable clothes at great prices. They sell everything; knitwear, underwear, office wear, shoes, accessories, evening wear, casual clothes...the list goes on. Most of the clothes are fashionable, although you do have to sometimes hunt through some cheap looking clothes. Another good thing is that they do the same styles in a range of colours and at such cheap prices I can often afford to get a top I like in several colours.
Just to give an example of the prices, on a recent shopping trip to Primark I spent 45 pounds (I hadn't shopped for ages!!) and I bought the following: a skirt for work, 3 long sleeved tops, a going out blouse, a roll neck jumper, a pair of tights, a cardigan and a tshirt. That's what I call great value!
Despite the low price of the clothes I have found that they fit me really well (A lot better than many more expensive shops) and they wash well too.
One disadvantge of Primark is that because of it's popularity my local branch in Manchester is always really busy so there are huge queues for the fitting rooms and tills. Another thing that concerned me in the past is where the clothes are made and conditions for the workers; i stoped shopping there for a good while but recently Primark have become an ethical trader and on their website they state that amongst other things they don't use child labour, they pay living wages and they ensure working conditions are safe and humane.
Summary: Great value for money!
