Advantages: Good value
Disadvantages: Messy shop
Primark is a chain of cheap clothes and accessories and grew in market share with the credit crunch, financial crisis, and more generally, the sheer reality of things hitting people. Why spending 100 Pounds on a shirt when you can have it for 4 Pounds?
The quality of goods at Primark is actually quite good, although they do not have anything of really good quality. I buy jeans from them, at 10 Pounds and even less they make very good value for money, I buy socks and underwears, but stay away from suits and other garments I wear for work.
Entering Primark may be a bit daunting, the items are not neatly ranged and there are large boxed where people throw and search for cheap items.
The wait for the changing rooms is always huge, this is my major concern, they do not seem to have enough changing rooms and people queue loaded up with items to try.
There is also waiting time at the till, but as I said at the beginning, it is the savings that make it worth while.
There have been TV programme showing that Primark use child labour, but the firm came out later to deny that this is the case. I always feel a bit uneasy when these things are reported, but on the other hand, it is difficult to shop knowing 100% that no child labour was not employed somewhere in the process? I mean, if you buy a garment in cotton, how do you know that no kids have been working on that cotton field?
I therefore suggest a visit to Primark because it is good value for money.
Summary: good value for money

- 05/02/09 that program on television made it sound like primark is the only bad guy out there but the fact being is that pretty much every high street store is plus they have no shame and are ripping us off anyway |

- 07/01/09 Nice review - although whilst it's true that it's difficult to know exactly how all the material for your clothes has been sourced, you can bet you bottom dollar that a £4 shirt has been created using the cheapest and most exploitative methods..... Which makes Primark a big "No, No" for me |
