Advantages: Some genuinely decent and value for money items to be found
Disadvantages: some terrible items, can be very packed and therefore messy and hard to get through
Primark is a retail store with 187 stores across the UK, Ireland (where it is known as Penneys), Holland and Spain. The store sells men, women and childrens fashion (including underwear, socks and pyjamas and shoes) homeware, shoes, handbags and accessories. It's well known for its low prices and it's large selection of products.
Primark has gone through somewhat of an overhaul in the last few years, which has seen it move from a shop where people were embarrassed to admit to using, to one where people are actually proud of using and telling their friends and family of the products they've bought and the cheapness of their goods.
I've been using Primark for many years, and I cannot argue that they definitely have a large selection of products, catering for a wide range of people and needs, and in a time where the price of everything and its uncle seems to be going up, it's definitely nice to know that theres somewhere to shop when you're on a tight budget.
For me personally, I really love their selection of underwear, socks, and pyjamas(althought if you're looking for your underwear to last for a long time perhaps it's not the place for you, as I notice that sometimes it can rip after a short time(althought what do you expect for a pound?). I also think that they're great for 'basic' wardrobe items, and in fact, that is the name of one of their ranges. I recently was able to buy a selection of plain long sleeved tops for £2 each and they're great for wearing underneath jumpers etc, or when I feel like layering my clothes. So i definitely believe that there are some worthwhile items in there to be had.
However, I feel that to get to good items, you really do need to rummage through a lot of rubbish. Some of the stuff is just tat and can look really cheap (I know it is cheap, but other shops sell cheap clothes that don't necessarily look this way). As well as this, because of the sheer size of the majority of the stores, it can be a bit daunting to step inside (particularly on a Saturday), and the place can seem a bit like a jumble sale, with clothes strewn everywhere, so it isn't always great if you're in a bit of a hurry.
That said, bargains really can be found, and if you're the sort of person who is good at putting outfits together, you could definitely find some little gems in this store.
Summary: great for some bargains, but don't expect everything to be great quality.
