Advantages: cheap clothes if you have the patience
Disadvantages: crowded, no signs
Primark!
I HATE shopping, totally hate it, grr!.
I usually go to the town centre only when i have to, which usually is once a year to Xmas shop, and then i try to spend 2 hours getting everyones presents in!.
I prefer clothes shops that are quiet with not many people in. I went to Primark yesterday to buy some `normal` t-shirts. Just normal v neck ones, nothing special. So in i go, not that many people. Usually it's packed, i went on dec 27th last year, and it was so crowded with little giggley girls talking about how small their bra size where.....
Inside it's quite empty a few people in. And i couldn't find anything!.
People give Primark good reviews, but they must have the patience of Angels i think.
Nothing is labelled. If you want to find the section you want you just have to wonder around basically. Everything is stacked on little tables. Folded neatly (sometimes!)
I admit, people have bought me clothes from Primark for xmas, and they have been nice. But it's too much hassle, and not at all nice for people who hate shopping like me.
Shop is always full of clothes. Mine was full of stripey tshirts, and size 8 jeans it seems. I didn't fancy anything, and i even heard a man passing buy saying that he hadn't liked anything he had seen either!.
I like their pyjamas and night gowns though. I was bought a nightgown for £2 last month, and the pyjamas (top and trousers) are only £3. So this is a bargain since some shops charge £7 just for some pyjama bottoms. They have thin pyjamas for summer, and thick ones. Lots of different patterns :)
I know they sell bra's too, but i heard these are uncomfortable so would never try them.
Quality is ok i guess. I have some slippers from there i got for xmas, purple fluffy ones. Shame one goes sideways on my feet.......very odd!. So qualiy is hit and miss.
They have changing room and you get a ticket, and can only take 3/4 items in... i have seen people trying coats on looking in the mirrors on the aisles, but yeh anything else and you'll need to go to the changing rooms :)
Most of the ladies in there look very well dressed, and like they don't `need` to shop in primark. Maybe there is hidden gems of nice clothes i have yet to find.
All in all, i don't like the shop. For me to enjoy Primark it would have to be empty apart from me in there, so i could have a look around without jumping out of the way of prams!.
Summary: ok if you have the patience of a saint!

- 06/02/09 Which primark did you go to?? I find that city centre ones are awful (particularly Birmingham) but I've been in some brilliant ones as well, Cheltenham is good and I love the one in Redditch as it is so neat and often quiet!! I couldn't actually believe it when I went in there, was probably my best shopping experience! So if you're ever in those areas, try them! |
