Advantages: Cheap clothes, cheap everything infact! Now do lots of mens clothes too.
Disadvantages: Always a little overcrowded.
My review is based on our local Primark in Harlow, Essex.
The store is absolutely massive and there are two different entrances to the store.
Primark Harlow seems to sell everything womens, mens, childrens, babies, shoes, handbags, accessories, underwear, bedding, homeware etc.
The left hand side is female (women, kids & babies) as well as having shoes, handbags, accessories etc in the middle to break up this side in to sections a little easier.
The right hand side is male (men, kids & babies) as well as having the homeware section in the middle to help break this side up a little also.
They stock from sizes 6-20 for women in my local Primark and I find that the sizing is quite good, I can't comment on the mens sizes as my other half won't shop in Primark for his clothes (tsk, men!).
Prices are extremely reasonable with basics T-shirts starting at 98p at present (VAT cut) and going up to around £5.00, I have always found these to be pretty good quality tops considering the small price that you pay for them, it doesn't really matter if they only see you through one summertime as they are just so cheap!
Our local Primark has changing areas with quite a few booths (boxed off area with a pull across curtain) and I always find these to be pretty empty when I go (probably because it's mid-week before lunchtime) and they always clean.
They do a fantastic range of shoes (sizes up to 8 I believe) and these are very reasonably priced normally starting at around the £5.00 mark, I have never had any complaints with the quality of the shoes just that they tend to not have any size 7 shoes (my size) when I look!
They also do bracelets, bangles, necklaces, rings, earrings etc and recently I picked up a set of 5 pairs of different sized hoops for £1.00 and have worn these quite a few times without them hurting my ears at all.
Our store is always pretty organised considering it is massive and there is always a lot of people browsing the clothes, the staff are very helpful and friendly and the tills are always well manned, it can sometimes take a good 10 minutes to get to the front of the queue but they have a good 5 or 6 tills and I think it's just sheer weight of clothing that is being purchased!
My best buy recently was a new strappy top for the summer for 98p, I have washed it before wearing it and it's kept it's colour and shape very well.
I tend to team my purchases from Primark with purchases from slightly more expensive high street stores and I don't like to wear a complete outfit from Primark, it's very common in Harlow to see lots of people wearing the same outfits as they've all shopped at Primark. But when you can get an entire outfit for under a tenner it's not a surprise really!
I would recommend Primark, especially if you are on a limited budget.
Summary: A cheap store, well worth a visit.

- 25/03/09 Youre other half is quite right not to shop in here. Me and the lads try to spot as many Primark dressed blokes as we can on a night out and to be fair it is very easy.
Jeans with no shape to them and T shirts with stupid slogans that dont actually mean anything, it is a dead give away! |
